The Troubled Vale - Day 18

General Summary

The Harbingers catch up with the other party, or so they think. They find Saint John and a battle ensues. They are transported off by a failed spell from St. John, ultimately leading to a final battle between John and Alistair. For his part, Alistair tries to avoid fighting, believing he's no match for the Palladin. The rest of the Harbingers are unconcious from Soren's rather bad idea of misty-stepping into a very unstable spell.

Alistair uses a Geas scroll, perhaps the most powerful scroll he would ever hold: ultimate geas. It allows him to place a command on Saint John that will endure for his lifetime. And it is quite simple: he may never kill another 'monster' again. Afterwards, John is unable to attack Alistair, and ultimately flees.

The heroes are guided to a mystical site, guarded by ghosts and spirits. Here they learn a bit more about the kingdom, in particular its downfall. They meet the King. He does not want to return to life, he wants to erase the Kingdom altogether.

The ghosts inform the Harbingers that Elana intends to sacrifice Nordin the Orc in some arcane ritual for power. Lyn the monk is hunting down Snyx, who was left behind during the misty-step incident. Her only advantage is being extra-large for the time being, due to an apparently lasting enlarge spell. She is hwoever, not a combatant and is heavily outgunned.
