Owlventure - Day 25
General Summary
The heroes begin with an interrogation, asking the wasps that've been taken prisoner about the attack. This is unfortunately, nearly fruitless. Nearly. The heroes do learn:
1. The Queen Wasp was kidnapped 2. The kidnapper looked just like Alistair 3. The attack is retalliation for the kidnapping. 4. The wasps are very hostile to the heroes.
This was as far as things got before the heroes see that one of the wasps has explosive material from the attack. And is about to explode. Soren uses his misty-step to grab the wasp and escape the hive, preventing any more casualties. Unfortunately, he gets pretty heavily toasted and must remain behind for treatment.
From there, the heroes go to check on their prisoner. The Chubby Sparrow. Unfortunately, he's gone. In his place is a fiend, a familiar that the heroes must quickly vanquish. They learn little from the monster, at least, directly. That there IS a familiar like this here, indicates quite a deal about their adversaries.
While puzzling on a next action, the heroes take notice of a group of terrified pixies fleeing the area. They are being chased by bats... bats have previously attacked the heroes too. They're able to blind and scare off the bats, granting them a chance to talk with the pixies. They were forced from their home. Ultimately the pixies split up, two go with the heroes while the rest continue to flee.
At the pixies home, the heroes discover a heavy guard detail of bats. And the Wasp Vesper in the pixie's home. He's working with the bats? The heroes wound, but are unable to kill him. The two pixies who've gone with the party are frozen by some strange influence. Thistle determines there is an enchantment interfering with the vesper wasp. So much is happening in t his web of chaos and deception.
Lastly, the heroes discover hte wasp queen, shrunken.. with the Owl's size potion. She's trapped in a little wooden box.
