Dear diary,
We’re going on a big trip. Our family and our whole village. Papa says we have to in order to be safe, and that we’ll go somewhere far away to the north. I will miss the butterflies of the forest, but Mama says there will be lots more aminals at the new home. I asked her if our new house will be big and have lots of room for toys, but she said she doesn’t know. I hope our new house will be big so I can have room to keep more flowers and funny shaped sticks.
I don’t know why we have to leave but I hope we can come back someday to see the forest and the river. I will miss looking at the fish swimming in the water. I asked Mama and Papa why we are leaving, and they said “because it’s not safe this far south.” Papa was arguing with a man the other day about leaving. I think Papa was trying to tell the man that he should leave to come with us, but the man didn’t want to. I think the man was saying mean things to Papa. I wonder why they were so mad.
I want to hide a treasure in the house, so when I come back someday I can find it and be surprised and happy! I’m going to put it in the hollow part of my bed, since I won’t put my diary in there anymore. I wonder how tall I’ll be when I come back and find it!
