Vera Tenebrae

Vera Tenebrae is a monument located near the forests outside Interitus. It's was one of the few surviving monuments that said to be created by the resistance group, Revive. It is a large statue of a full moon made of Moon Steel surrounded by a wreath of preserved Glitter Crocuses.   Currently, the monument has been restored and it now stands at the central district's park of Umbraculum as a symbol of Kuroi itself.

Purpose / Function

Symbolically, the monument represents how darkness is originally perceived in the Arcanum legends: freedom and limitless potential. This also represents what Revive stands for while rebelling against the totalitarian leadership of Opprimere.   After Kuroi was established and the monument was discovered and restored, the monument later represented not only the original meaning of darkness but also represents the Umbra's desires to co-exist with the other races as the same with light and darkness themselves.

Alterations

Originally, the monument didn't include the wreath of Glitter Crocuses upon completion. However, it was later added by Nori's girlfriend, Eri to better represent what Revive stood with.   Due to the damages from age deterioration and withstanding the recoil blasts during the war by the time it was publicly discovered, Vera Tenebrae had to be restored by the Arcanum Archive art restoration team with the help of the monument's original creator. Along with the restoration, the monument now has two vines sticking out behind the Moon Steel full moon and a longsword that resembles Armand Colby's during the final raid. The wreath of Glitter Crocuses now has several steel flowers and purple sapphires mixed in them. It now has a memorial plaque on the pedestal that has the names of the fallen victims of Opprimere.

History

During the height of Opprimere's tyrannical rule under Rigid, Revive's resident blacksmith, Nori made the Vera Tenebrae out of Moon Steel that was leftover from her previous forges. Originally, it doesn't have any wreath around it until the youngest member at that time, Eri. added it alongside her girlfriend. It slowly made into a symbol for the group to the point their flag logo resembles the monument itself. While it was poorly made due to her lack of quality equipment, the Vera Tenebrae continued to stand during the final years of the war. However, before Armand Colby raided the country, the monument was lost when Revive fled from their hideout.   Many years have passed at the end of the war and before the Arcanum Hero era, the monument was later found by the Encounter of Innovations group during their exploration of the former tyrannical country as part of Kuroi's expansion. This prompted the group to find the original artist who made the monument and once they found it 2 weeks later, they transferred it to Umbraculum and restored it to its former glory with the proper equipment from the Smithing Guild with some alterations to represent the changing landscapes after the war. It then sat in the central district of Umbraculum as a new symbol of Kuroi.

Tourism

As the monument stands in the central park, most tourists often come to see Vera Tenebrae's splendor and the history behind it through several tour groups. Some history buffs often come along with visiting the city's grand library afterward. In some cases, the former refugees of Opprimere visit the statue to remember and grieve the fallen victims who were afflicted by the former country's tyranny.
