Sapphire RAM

Also known as Sapphire Random Memory, it's one of the materials used to create Generation-type Memory Fuels for the Data Trains. Unlike other materials in Cybai, this mineral can only be found in some areas that are not created by the world's natural data, making it one of the rare, but highly-sought minerals in the world.

Material Characteristics

True to its name, it's a blue crystal mineral with several data found inside it. If it's refined, it's a blue shining gem that allows you to see the physical data inscription written inside it.

Physical & Chemical Properties

The gem is very sheen and smooth to the touch and upon shining onto a light, it emits a small blue light that shines onto the user's eyes. When touched, the gem emits a small heat coming from the data encrypted in it and when it's cracked, the data will leak through it.

Compounds

True to the term "random" in its full name, the gem contains unique data properties not found in other minerals, which is it is somehow randomized in different ones including existing properties such as elements and size. Because of this quirk, not all of the sapphires are the same. Due to their natural state, many gems retain their sheen even after the data is extracted or deteriorates.

Geology & Geography

Unlike its related memory minerals, Sapphire RAM are only found in areas where the world's data didn't create them, yet they must be close to the data source of the cyber area. Some examples include mines, mountains, and bedrocks near forests and deserts. But due to its unique properties, not all of the gems in the natural spots can be found all the time.

Life & Expiration

Due to its natural state, the fuel inside the Sapphire RAM loses the unique data in its refined state if it is taken out from the storage by 8 hours. Its deterioration will hasten if the gem is cracked.

History & Usage

Industrial Use

As they were used to create Generation-type Memory Fuel for the Data Trains, the Sapphire RAM must be refined into gems through gem polishers of Cybai. Once refined, they are stored in special fuel cars of Data Trains until they are used to fuel them during travels.

Refinement

As the Sapphire RAM is too dangerous to use in its unrefined state, it must be refined by professional gem polishers and Cyber Mages specialized in sealing most of its uncontrollable data. Most gems are cut down by about 40 to 50 kg to follow the regulations of the Memory Fuel laws.

Manufacturing & Products

The Sapphire RAM is mostly used to create Generation-type Memory Fuels, used in some of the Data Trains such as the Force-Model Data Train.

Byproducts & Sideproducts

Even if the Sapphire Ram runs out of data, its physical gem characteristics remain. Due to this, most sapphires are also made into jewelry, but they can do so if they exhausted all of their data.

Hazards

Because of its hybrid nature, the Sapphire RAM is very hazardous in its unrefined state. If the data inside is released, it may create several viruses and corrupt nearby computers or data in Cybai. Even in its refined state, breaking it may generate a data explosion that may corrupt an area of about 10 meters. And like other minerals, using the wrong fuel mix with the one inside the sapphire will sometimes result in an explosion.

Environmental Impact

As it was originally mined from the natural areas of Cybai, there are reports of landslides in several mountain areas and bedrocks due to illegal mining. It also harms the fauna near their habitats and has a chance of destroying the mines due to over mining. Miners must be mindful when mining these minerals.

Reusability & Recycling

Once the sapphire exhausts all of the data after usage, it can be sent back to the polishers to be made into jewelry and accessories that are sold worldwide including Arcanum City. Most of these products are considered luxurious and popular for the trending youths.

Storage

To ensure their longevity, the Sapphire RAM is stored in special refrigerators inside the fuel cars of the Data Train. They must be taken out using special mechs installed inside the car.

Law & Regulation

As with other fuel minerals, owning a Sapphire RAM requires someone who owns a Data Train such as a Cyber Warrior or a Cyber Mage. However, they can only carry a maximum of 60 kg in their fuel car. Keeping more than its size is considered a violation and confiscation of the Train and its supplies. It is also illegal to mine Sapphire RAM without permission, which results in quarantine if caught.
