Vendors, Traders and Merchants

A trader or a merchant is a classification of an NPC (as well as a small faction), with whom the player can interact and can purchase and sell various items and equipment in exchange for currency or goods. Also known as Quartermasters in the game files, Merchants buy and sell items to the Player and can be found in almost every location and safe-zone throughout the map.

Overview

Despite the hardships trailing about everyone around the ZONE, a thriving underground market stakes claim in many settlements; leading to a somewhat flourishing economy. Because of this, merchants are often the primary source of buying selling and trading goods within the Zone and multiple merchants can often be found in any major settlements with even few even being found outside a safe zone, often found wandering the roads.   In settlements, the stores one can often find, provide the player with anything that they may need on their adventures, from weapons, body armor, and even medicinal supplies. Settlement Merchants are usually easy to find and may often present as Stalls or even Stores. However being actual stores in a way, they do often close at a specific time, with most being open from around about 8am to 8pm. But some merchants may be available all day, and night, especially Loner Merchants, so it's best to keep an eye out!   Many merchants are often split into Groupings. These groupings are essentially what split different merchants off from one other in terms of their typical supply and demand.   For example, Beastmaster Merchants are merchants who will often buy and sell mutant or animal parts at a reasonable price.   However if the player attempts to sell the same parts to a Weapons Vendor, then the price will not be as good. Same as if the player tries to sell Weapons to a food Vendor, you mat get some money, but it wont be worth it.   _ _ _ _   All together there are about 4 groupings or so of merchants that can be found throughout the world.
  • Food Vendor: Food Merchants are your typical tavern keeps, bar keeps or what have you. While they are not in the business of selling weapons or armor to defend yourself with, these merchants have a knack for selling anything tasty and often worth your time if your looking for something to boost your health. They are also often to willingly cough up the big bucks to any full-course meals (prepared dish) that your character cooks up for themselves that they wish to sell, but will also sell the same for a pretty penny. SO SPEND AND SELL WISELY!

  • Weapons Merchants: These stores primarily specialize in offering the player an assortment of weapons mostly in the form of a large array of firearms from pistols to a Minigun in later game, as well as armor, in exchange for currency. In the beginning of the game, Weapon's Merchant stores tend to have only weak weapons in stock; more powerful weapons are unlocked as the player progresses through the storyline. As the game progress', so does the stock and as a result other forms of protection may find their way's into the story, such as bombs or other weapons.

  • Beastmaster/Butcher/Trapper: Beastmaster Butcher and Trapper shops and stalls allow players who visit the shop to buy various sorts of meat and sell animal loot. They may also sell traps as well. Each settlement has it's own, but despite the different names (Trapper, Beastmaster or Butcher) they all generally perform the same task's. and have around the same prices when it comes to selling or buying resources. Though it should be noted, that Beastmaster, who can often be found in raider camps, will often pay just a little extra for Mutant Parts. And will also most likely to be the only one who offers Mutant Hunting Quests
While these three typically represent the main shop vendors one might encounter within the Zone, other shops such as Tailors may also present as well. While clothing can usually be found in wardrobes, in chests, and on corpses throughout the Zone, they can also be bought from certain Merchants. Tailor shops, for example, allow the player to choose from a diverse and larger variety of clothes, which players can wear alongside their armor for a sense of fashion.   Because Remember!   Just because your world has gone to complete hell   doesn't mean you cant look absolutely fabulous as your brutally eaten alive!
