Faction: Overview
Factions are Zone clans/organizations operating within the Exclusion Zone
Capable of being both enemy and comrade alike, each faction stands with their own ideals and goals. As such, many may both be allies who may share their ideals and enemies who oppose them. Factions play a large role in a Survivor’s life, as the Zone is an unforgiving wasteland, where the death of an ordinary man amounts to little more than a discarded shell casing, and "morality" is relative to a faction's goals.
Overview
Factions in Arcane: Silent Frontiers, make up a majority of the human’s encountered within the Zone. All together there are TWO Types of Factions:Major Factions are those factions that play an essential role and are the giants of the new world; their constant struggles for control over humanity's future within the Zone.
Minor Factions are those factions which-play a smaller role. While they cannot match the power or influence of their larger neighbors, they nevertheless form a vital part of the Zone's geopolitics.Typically, Factions can be either Neutral, Passive or Hostile, much like all living things within the Zone.
Nearly everyone is part of a Faction one way or another, even those not typically aligned with one. For example Loners, also known as Freemen or Pilgrims, do not belong to a faction and are not exactly a Faction. They are not united in the normal sense of a faction, and the word "Pilgrim" most often refers more to the lifestyle/profession itself. They are instead a collective group of survivors that often journey nomadically through the wastes of civilizations within the exclusion Zone, serving often as travelers and message carriers between the last inhabited sections of the Zone. Despite this, Pilgrims for example are a Neutral Minor Faction meaning they do not often attack unless provoked into hostilities first and are not as substantial as other big name groups. However, the Zone has its fair share of Hostile Major Factions, to thoroughly make up for that. Highwaymen for example are a Hostile Minor Faction. Known to patrol the deserted roads and waiting in ambush, they are ruthless, callous opportunists who care nothing for civilians and see them as nothing more then target practice or resources. N.O.X.U.S are a Hostile MAJOR Faction, with several minor factions below it that they control own and utilized to ensure the stability of the company during their viral experimentation.
- Passive Factions/Creatures are entities that do not attempt to attack the player, even when provoked or attacked.
- Neutral Factions/Creatures are entities sometimes passive and sometimes hostile toward the player. Many are often provoked when the player attacks it first and some may also have some additional way to be provoked.
- Hostile Factions/Creatures are dangerous, aggressive entities that always attack the player within their respective detection ranges.
