Overview: Arcadian Cities

Arcadian Cities are densely planned urban centres that huddle around a central power source - typically a nuclear generator (although some cities still operate on oil, and Nukvut still seasonally depends on coal) - that provide energy and hot water to the surroundings. Designed for maximum efficiency, cities are vertically orientated, and mostly automated. Almost all cities follow a concentric zoning model - residential sectors nearer the power plant, followed by industrial sectors, followed by logistics hubs.
Public transport is almost exclusive for citizens - "roads" (or ploughed routes) only exist on the outskirts. Most cities are overseen by AI systems (known as Superintendents), which support logistics, maintenance and public services. Urban life is compact and inward-facing. Open spaces are rare—inefficient to heat and difficult to maintain against snow and ice. Architecture favours dull modular constructions, but civic symbols, murals, and guild emblems add local colour in enclosed spaces.
Cities are connected by maintained routes kept clear of crevasses and snow/ice build up by various guilds. The Boreal Monorail connects Kuula to Point Breaker and Safeharbour.
