Deepwater

On the morning of the eighth day, she neared what felt like the solid foundation of a township. The ground took on even more solidity, and the horse’s lamplight allowed her to be hailed from some miles away by a harp, who flew in from beyond the walls to escort her. The old bird commented on her cloak, and said that with the white speckled horse she looked like a wraith, holding her soul’s light before him so he may see. While she laughed, she thought the allegory was quaint, and even beautiful if it was a tad dark.

The harp showed her inside, leading her past the tall palisades and into the center of this small town. Much of it was kept at the lowest part of a set of hills, which were slated with rock so that they might appear mountainous. But in truth, they were only a few meters higher each tier, until the estate of their humble baron was reached. He lived on the highest hill, in a simple cathedral. His personal quarters lie in a cabin just below the apostate and his house of God. And that was Deepwater.

Barrow simply restocked her rations and set Aederis inside a stable before heading east to the keep. Fenmur lead his clan there, and she intended to end him and his brothers, and liberate their gold from its resting place.
— From a history found in Vidalia's national library. An account of the advisor Barrow of Sonntag and her trip to the keep of Deepwater, where she recovers Hymne.

Demographics

Deepwater is pleasantly diverse. While the majority population is still Denizen, they have a community of harps as well. Giants live nearby. The hamlet is also most entirely working class. Their income comes from local trade and hand crafted goods.

Government

Deepwater is a part of the People's Commonwealth of Epsilon, and is allowed local law officiated by the baron, under the explicit condition that they adhere to basic federal laws.

Defences

Wooden palisades, and a single gate. Probably a local militia, but not much beyond that.

Industry & Trade

Mentioned above. Ample resources for the forging of weapons and crafting of useful items. The postal center brings in lots of revenue as well.

Infrastructure

A single road runs through town, regulated by a gate and a gaffer. An old man with a light post to simply grumble at passerbies and shuffle them through.

Assets

Despite its small size, Deepwater has a postal center. As well as ample stables, 60% of its surface area in farmland Ample business in the crafts (smithing, weaving, bowmaking, tailoring) Ample fishing waters A supply of freshwater ice, some kilometers to the north.

Guilds and Factions

The town is home to a few small apprentice guilds for labor workers. Professions are familial, and skills are passed down each generation.

History

Architecture

Deepwater only has access to simple wooden structures. They cannot afford metal foundations, and stone is too difficult to mine with such a small population and with no feasible profit to make from the process. So, all of its homes and buildings are wooden, typically roofed with thatch.
