Hellrot

A very special appointment had been made with him and a bird-- one he was very determined to keep. A very special four hundred and fifty sixth birthday party for a very reclusive gal. Her manor lie at the top of a steep hill that overlooked the sea, the deep, tumultuous sea. Her gardens stretched to the very pebbles of the cliffs, and he remembered the stories she’d told about how she used to sit there and watch the sun bow below the blackish-blue cusps of the horizon. He was very excited to see her again.   He wound up the hills, petting back his thick blond hair every half mile or so. It seemed to be forever, the walk, but from the tips of these moldy-green peaks, he could see the backs of all the homes he neighbored back in North Bend. The peninsula stretched for miles. To the right of his vision, the seas. Trembling rocks held up his village on stilts of earth, and to the east, North Bend stretched out and became miles upon miles of fields and lush plains. Past that, the highlands. Visitors from Proletaria used to say how vast Hellrot looked. You could see nearly the whole province from a high hill. The marshy swathes evolved into the extreme peaks of the needle trees eventually, farther east. Past that, you can see the irradiated glow of Hellrot’s condemned zones. No living thing came back from there. At least. Not as a living thing. The undead, the plaguish, the sinister all lied in those mushroom woods. Hellrot was a peaceful place-- full of friendly people and a sedated culture, but it was in the mushroom forests that tales of disappearing children and slender creatures of perverted proportions became a reality. Fin wrote about the place a few times. Had even traveled to the outskirts-- and to this day he agrees that its a positively haunting landscape. It’s dead there, he elaborated. Rotten, filled with must and sour flavors, even just the air tasted old. He continued up the hill and buried his admiration so he could focus on his trip. The manor came into view a mile or so later, when his North Bend home became a desaturated lump in the distance. A blob of gray. He snickered to himself and hurried ahead, taking strong steps up the last bends of the hill so he could take it easy while he knocked on her door. She’d be so happy…

Geography

Hellrot is a massive, sprawling moor that extends south from the cliffs on the continent's edge, and eventually turns into rolling hills and wetlands. The place is very unpopulated due to the isolation one feels in the valleys. It is home to a few small towns/settlements, but is mostly untouched.

Natural Resources

The land is okay for farming, but not great. There is ample water and natural flora to persist however. Wood is abundant to the northeast, but not in many other places The highlands are almost completely barren taiga.
