Wooing

Like in any thriving environment, people in Arburg get married and have children. However, all that has to start somewhere, and that somewhere would be: the wooing process. *cue dramatic music* Just kidding. It's not all that bad. In fact, it's a pretty normal process.
The man typically does the pursuing, and usually in the following order or manner:
Step one: he approaches the father of the girl he wishes to pursue, and asks for his permission.
Step two: he asks the girl if she would like to court him, and she says either yes or no. Usually, it is considered standard and polite to give him at least one chance to come a-calling.
Step three: he comes to call at her house, and takes her on "dates". Eventually, it either falls apart or he pops the question.
This is how wooing and pursuing has been done in Arburg for... well... ever. It usually works quite well.
The only people that do not really woo or get to be wooed in this way are the Royals. The heirs to the throne, get their mates by the Choosing (see The King's new bride). For other royal children, they often do not interact with many people their age, so often the choices of life partners are slim.

Participants

A suitor, a willing suitee, her father or an other parental figure.

Observance

People like to joke that Sherrae (see Seasons is the time for courting and calling, because love is in the air. It is a time of warmth and amorous feelings.
