Elder

The Elders are the supporting committee to the monarch on the throne. They advise, help make decisions and write up laws. It is made up of three to five people, who live in the Western wing of the palace.
The current Elders in service, advising King Ronan and Queen Neva, are Arthur (II) Adley, his wife, Ronan’s uncle and his old governess.

Requirements

They have to be of the highest class. Ex-King’s and queens all have the choice to become elders when they step down from the throne, and members of the royal family or anything close to it can also qualify. You have to be over the age of 40 to become one (although this rules excludes exKings or Queens). They do not have to be of royal blood to apply and be accepted, but often blood is favored. There have been old governors and governesses in the Elders, as they are very wise and educated in a variety of subjects.

Appointment

People can apply or reapply before the new King’s coronation, and then after it, the King approves three to five of the applied as members.

Duties

They must pledge their loyalties to the King and their job is to be advisors and help with the legalities and admin part of the job. They meet three times a year and the King can call emergency meetings whenever he likes. Civilians can request an audience with any one of them, and they are obligated to respond.

Benefits

This is one of the highest positions in the kingdom, and members are seen as extremely wise and are often asked for wisdom.

Grounds for Removal/Dismissal

If any one of them proves disloyal in any way, or the King is dissatisfied by their service, they can be expelled from the group. Replacing them is optional.
