Dynasty Beetles
Just before the monsoon season begins above Mossbank Plains, a rumble like thunder cuts the air. The sound marks the arrival of gargantuan beetles, their footsteps and wingbeats shaking the plains beneath them. These are the Dynasty Titans, hundred-ton beetles gathered to compete for territory and mating rights. Their most distinctive feature is a 30-foot horn with a shovel tip, curving gracefully upward from the front of the face.
The titans gather and climb the mossy trunk, with rival males facing off and fighting for higher ground. The beetles wrestle and strike with their horns, trying to use their bulk to push past their opponent. When the stronger male gets the upper hand, he scoops his horn under the other, and with a mighty heave, lifts and flips the loser over his back, sending him tumbling to the plains below.
