Cardinal Directions and Navigation
When navigating Arboreus, people use six cardinal directions to find their way. The directions are descriptive relative to the the parts of the world tree.
Crownward: up, toward the top of the tree
Rootward: down, toward the obscured roots
Leafward: out, toward the tips of the branches away from the trunk.
Trunkward: in, toward the heartwood at the core of the trunk.
Deosil: clockwise around the trunk, as viewed from above the crown rootward. This also happens to be the general direction the sun and moon take in the sky. Easily followed by keeping the right hand trunkward as one travels.
Widdershins: counter-clockwise around the trunk, as viewed from above the crown rootward. Followed by keeping the left hand trunkward as one travels.
Manifestation
Gravity pulls down toward the roots of the world, so differentiations must be made among up, down, out, and around. Many people have an innate knowledge of where the trunk lies via an almost magnetic pull the heartwood has.
