Amber
While danger can come from any direction in Arboreus, there is a deep, instinctual fear that people feel when the tree itself moves. This can mean broken branches, fallen leaves, bark quakes, and so much more. One of the most dreaded natural disasters is a sapslide. When the mighty xylem or phloem of the world tree breaks, millions of gallons of sap can ooze forth. An unstoppable flood of sticky death engulfs anything in its path, unhindered until it finally begins to dry. When a sapslide finally ends, anything under the wave is trapped. Only a handful of rescue attempts have ever succeeded in pulling someone out of the ooze. Over time, the sap hardens into a stone-like substance, preserving a snapshot of the destruction. This amber usually falls to the roots, lost forever to time.
