Trade Posts and Fortifications

The Alliance operates seven major trade posts, each a formidable stronghold. Five of these trade posts are the size of large towns, while two—Highplain Exchange and Rivermeet Market—are as large as small cities. These posts are fortified with thick stone walls, watchtowers, and reinforced gates, ensuring the safety of merchants and goods. Inside, the posts feature sprawling markets, warehouses, guildhalls, and living quarters, providing comprehensive facilities for trade and residence.

Military and Security

The Alliance maintains a well-equipped and disciplined military force to protect its interests. Each trade post has a garrison of trained soldiers, including infantry, archers, and cavalry units. These troops are armed with high-quality weapons and armor, ready to defend against any threats. The larger trade posts also have elite guards and mounted patrols to secure the surrounding regions. The security force is supplemented by a network of scouts and spies who provide intelligence on potential dangers.

Logistics and Transportation

A robust fleet of merchant ships and riverboats ensures the smooth transportation of goods across Shadowmarch’s waterways. The Alliance also maintains a significant number of horses and wagons for overland trade routes, facilitating the movement of supplies and merchandise. In addition, each trade post has a stable of horses for swift communication and rapid response teams.

Buildings and Infrastructure

Each trade post is home to a variety of buildings essential for trade and daily life. This includes large warehouses for storing goods, inns and taverns for travelers, blacksmiths and craftsmen workshops, and administrative offices. Highplain Exchange and Rivermeet Market, being the largest, also feature grand marketplaces, trade guild headquarters, and luxurious quarters for high-ranking officials.

Wealth and Resources

The wealth of the Alliance is immense, with vast reserves of gold, precious gems, and trade goods amassed over centuries. This wealth is stored in heavily guarded vaults within the trade posts. The Alliance’s economic power is further bolstered by its control over key resources, including rare minerals, exotic spices, and enchanted artifacts, which are traded across Shadowmarch and beyond.

Castles and Other Fortifications

In addition to the fortified trade posts, the Alliance controls several strategically located castles and fortresses throughout Shadowmarch. These strongholds serve as military bases, secure storage sites, and safe havens for merchants. They are equipped with siege weaponry, defensive enchantments, and well-trained garrisons, ensuring the Alliance’s dominance over critical trade routes and territories.   Through these extensive assets, the Shadowmarch Merchants' Alliance not only facilitates prosperous trade but also maintains its formidable presence and influence across the continent, ensuring the security and stability of its vast economic network.
