Aeryth Velshar

Personal History

Aeryth Velshar hails from the demi-plane of the Astral Sea, where his kind, the Grafthir, have lived in relative isolation, tending to the oceanic flora that sustains their people. Born to a family of kelp farmers, Aeryth grew up surrounded by the tranquil waves of his home, blissfully unaware of the horrors lurking beyond the rift.   Now adrift in an unfamiliar world, Aeryth seeks to rebuild his life or return to it. Though he longs for the peace of his home, he knows the journey home may never eventuate.

Physical descriptions

Appearance & Attire

Aeryth possesses shark-grey skin, his complexion darkened by years spent beneath the waves. His golden eyes, reflective and luminescent, seem to pierce the darkness with an eerie awareness. His long, flowing white hair moves like strands of silk, seemingly unaffected by the wind.   A thin but wiry frame suggests agility rather than brute strength, his every movement precise and deliberate, as if he is moving through water even on land.   Intricate bioluminescent markings, reminiscent of deep-sea patterns, faintly pulse along his arms, glowing subtly when he exerts his energy. These markings occasionally brighten when he experiences strong emotions or uses his powers.   Aeryth wears a mix of practical and ceremonial attire from his homeland—woven sea-silk robes reinforced with flexible chitin plating. His garments bear the colours of deep blue with silver threading, reminiscent of the endless sea he once called home.

Concealed Items

A coral-carved amulet inscribed with a sigil from his homeland. A kelp-woven pouch containing deep-sea salts, sacred to the Grafthir. A small, jagged black stone—pulled from the hull of a ruined nautiloid.

What do they sound like

Aeryth’s voice is smooth and calming, carrying the cadence of rolling waves. His speech is deliberate, often marked by brief pauses as he carefully chooses his words.   However, when the Illithid’s presence weighs on his mind, his tone becomes strained, and a faint, distorted echo can sometimes be heard beneath his words—remnants of the psionic link he once endured.

Social

Motivations

Aeryth is a wanderer at heart, driven by an insatiable curiosity about the world beyond his home in the Abyssal Sea. He seeks to understand the cultures, histories, and philosophies of those who walk the lands, believing that knowledge is the greatest treasure.   Though raised as a humble kelp farmer, he has always yearned for adventure. He sees himself as an observer and storyteller, documenting the wonders he encounters. To Aeryth, each person he meets is a chapter in a greater narrative, and he is determined to weave his own legend among them.   Above all, he believes in the balance of nature and the interconnectedness of all things. He values harmony but understands that conflict is inevitable, and he is not afraid to act when the scales tip too far.

Personality Traits

Philosophical Drifter – Aeryth enjoys deep discussions about fate, existence, and the unknown, often posing more questions than answers. Tactful and Observant – He rarely rushes to speak, preferring to read a room and understand dynamics before interjecting. Unshakable Calm – No matter the situation, Aeryth remains level-headed, a trait that often unnerves those who expect more emotion.

Flaws

Detached from Reality – Aeryth sometimes loses himself in abstract thought, making him slow to react in tense moments. Too Curious for His Own Good – His fascination with new experiences can sometimes lead him into dangerous situations.

Ideals

"To know the world is to know oneself." "Every meeting is a story waiting to be told." "Life moves like the tide—ever-changing, never still."

Abilities

Biometric Transference

Aeryth has the unique ability to absorb wounds, injuries, and even ailments from others and transfer them to inanimate objects. A deep gash may leave a wooden table splintered, while a burn may char the ground beneath him.   This ability comes at a cost—each transference takes a toll on Aeryth’s stamina, and if he overuses it, his own body begins to deteriorate.

Mind Resonance

Aeryth’s shattered psionic link to the Illithid hive occasionally grants him brief flashes of insight, allowing him to sense approaching threats or hidden dangers.   However, this ability is unreliable, and when it activates, it often comes with unbearable headaches or brief moments of disassociation.
