Singer

In the heart of the untamed Kargathian Wetlands prowls a majestic and enigmatic creature known as the Singer. Resembling a panther-like feline, this apex predator boasts a sleek and muscular physique, masterfully adorned with a lush coat of deep green, reminiscent of the vibrant foliage that surrounds its natural habitat. With emerald eyes that seem to hold ancient wisdom and mystery, the Singer moves with an uncanny grace, blending seamlessly into the dense undergrowth of the wetlands.   What sets the Singer apart from its feline counterparts is its unique bond with a mate, a bond that lasts a lifetime. Once they find their partner, they form an inseparable pair, bound together by an unbreakable psychic connection. This deep connection allows them to communicate not just through vocalizations but also through a mysterious form of telepathy, their thoughts and emotions intertwining, creating a profound and unspoken understanding between them.   As fearsome predators, Singers utilize their formidable hunting skills to track and take down prey, often displaying an unparalleled level of coordination and strategy. Their bond allows them to coordinate seamlessly during hunts, enabling them to take down prey much larger and more powerful than themselves. With near-silent movements and unmatched stealth, they become the shadows of the wetlands, striking swiftly and lethally.   However, what truly makes the Singer a terrifying creature is its psychic powers. When stalking its prey, it can employ its telepathic abilities to send soothing, almost hypnotic waves of psychic energy, temporarily dazing its quarry, leaving them vulnerable and unable to escape the imminent pounce. This psychic manipulation has earned the Singer a fearsome reputation as a creature of both physical and mental prowess.   Yet, this psychic bond carries a heart-wrenching consequence. When one of the pair dies, the surviving Singer experiences a profound psychic backlash, causing them to be temporarily stunned by grief and loss. It is a poignant testament to the depth of their emotional connection and the pain of losing their lifelong partner.   The Singers are a rare and elusive species, their psychic abilities and unique bond making them an enigma to those who dare to venture into their territory. Revered by some as mystical guardians of the Kargathian Wetlands, they are also feared by those who know of their deadly prowess. Their presence in the vast, lush expanse of the wetlands serves as a reminder of the mysteries and wonders that lie hidden within the unexplored corners of Aranath. To witness a Singer in its natural habitat is to glimpse the beauty and ferocity of the untamed wilderness, a true testament to the grandeur and diversity of nature's creations.

I heard once that people who have been married for a long time actually "store" some of their memories in their partners and this is why they say they feel like a piece of them died when they are widowed. This reminds me a lot of that. It must be an amazing existence to be a Singer, so close to your partner, but also very lonely when they are gone.
