Lady Karliah (kar-lye-uh)
Lady Karliah is a young human woman of slight frame and beautiful features, who is both the civic figurehead of the township of Litha as well as its spiritual leader. Visitors underestimate her at their peril, however, as she has spent all 30 of her living years in service to the goddess Kharliish, and as such she is afforded both the wisdom and the power to behave in accordance with her position as the spiritual and civic leader of Litha. In addition to her keen insight, she has the gift of spellcasting and the practice to back it up.
She makes her residence in the Penthouse Suite of the hive-chapel, which is in reality just a small, single-room apartment containing what amenities can be fitted to the hive structure. She is the only non-Salen entity that the hive will permit to remain within the hive for any substantial duration of time, without the use of the pheremones and fur suits used by the hive maintenance teams.

Karliah usually prefers simple and flowing blouses and skirts of neutral colors, but is nearly always adorned with some badge of office that makes it impossible for her to ever look "plain." Her shawl of salen fur, the polished brass scepter of Litha with its crowning stinger, or the necklace of honeyed amber hexagons given to her (allegedly) by Khaliish herself -- there are all dead giveaways of her elevated status and she is always engaged in an activity that requires at least one of them.
