Woodhaven

Demographics

The entire population is Devoni, a mixture of the Daltain humans in the east and the Eurnaid race in the west.

Government

Run by a Justiciar and their court. For matters of lawbreaking, the Justiciar does not immediately sit down at trials. The court, a group of 8 individuals that change every year, listen to cases brought before them and discuss what would be the best sentencing. After coming to an agreement, the court holds a private meeting with the Justiciar and present the case. The Justiciar has no knowledge of the case or people involved beforehand to avoid and biases the Justiciar might have. The Justiciar then suggests a sentencing based off of their understanding of the case, and, if contrary to what the court agreed on, might further discuss the case before concluding it. The Justiciar must decide sentencing in the meeting prior to announcing, and write it on paper and sign it. If the Justiciar does not want to go through with the aforementioned sentencing once they find out who is involved (due to biases), the court can strip the Justiciar of their position, and a new one is chosen within the court.   The Justiciar is in charge of all lawmaking and directing of the flow of goods in the community.

Defences

The town is built on the remains of an ancient quarry, so it is actually fairly easy to just attack from above. The town is nearly untouched by outsiders, however, and in all its time since its founding has only once been assailed.

Industry & Trade

Woodhaven deals primarily in stonework seeing as it's from a quarry. Most of the stonework is artsy, like sculptures and etchings, unless some of the stone buildings need to be worked on.   Lumber is actually difficult to find, despite its name and location to a massive forest. However, much of the Empyrean Forest is filled with trees unable to be cut down, and going into the forest to find smaller trees can be dangerous. To the east is a lot of hills and open ground, and though there are good trees, there aren't many, and they are miles away from the town. Woodhaven never trades in lumber because of this, and farmers plant their own field of trees to tend it for the town's use only. The fields for other crops are located even farther out of town, but tend to be bountiful with wheat.
