Ruthar (Ru-thar)

Overview

  Brother of Mehena, and father of the dwarven race, he is the chief deity of the Dwarven Pantheon, and is characterized as a stern but loving father to the dwarven gods and the dwarven race as a whole. He is the strength and force of will embodied. Ruthar inspires dwarven inventions and constantly sought to improve the dwarven race, encouraging their strong will, intelligence, and ability to exist without the need for other mortal races.  

Portfolio and Responsibilities

  He is a god whose portfolio includes protection, metalworking, family, isolationism, dwarves, stonework. The church of Ruthar had an active role in guiding the morals of dwarven communities; they emphasized his hand in everyday dwarven activities such as mining, smithing, and engineering, and invoked his blessing when these tasks began. They led the push to protect dwarven kingdoms and to spread their influence on the surface. Ruthar's clerics, known as Sonnlinor, were usually drawn from family lines, like most dwarven occupations.

Holidays

Offerings are made to the Soul Forger on a monthly basis. The ranking cleric of a community can declare any day a holy day to celebrate a local event.   Jioric 1 - New Life (Dwarves) Celebration of the creation of dwarves by Ruthar.

In Ruthar's name, I take this oath, binding my destiny to His eternal forge and the endless halls of our ancestors.  
  • I swear to uphold the integrity, strength, and wisdom of the dwarven race, for in doing so, I honor the very essence of Ruthar.
  • I shall protect and preserve our sacred homes and kingdoms, both above and below the surface. The bedrock of our world is the foundation upon which our legacy stands.
  • I pledge to be the bulwark against those who would harm our people or corrupt our ways. Ruthar's shield is my shield, and with His guidance, no foe shall pass.
  • I vow to cherish and uphold the values of family, for in the bonds of kinship, the true strength of the dwarves is realized. We are forged together, stronger than any alloy.
  • I will advocate for the autonomy and independence of the dwarven race. Our strength comes from within, and we shall never be beholden to other races for our greatness.
  • Just as the stone remains unyielding and steadfast, so too shall my resolve never waver. My honor is the reflection of Ruthar's will, and I shall never bring shame upon His name or that of my ancestors.

Physical Description

General Physical Condition

He is often depicted as a tan skinned, black haired dwarf in bronze plate armor adorned with rubies and gold trim. He is usually seen clutching a warhammer and shield, and is shown in religious art battling with giants, or the Orks of the mountains.
