Kossuth (Cah-suth)

Overview

Said to be from the same world as Shaundakul, Kossuth is an enigmatic and mysterious god. A distant and alien entity, Kossuth seems to have some sort of plan for it's mortal followers and rapidly growing church, but none except perhaps the highest clerics have any insight into what that plan may be.

Portfolio and Responsibilities

It is a god whose portfolio includes flames and purification through fire. Kossuth’s adherents tend to be fanatical schemers who wish to “cleanse” the world and rebuild it according to the Firelord’s dictates. Highly motivated and easily manipulated, clerics of the lower terraces tend to ‘burn out” quickly (often literally) in their efforts to advance to the next terrace. Senior clerics use their underlings as pawns, frequently sending them on missions for which they are not properly trained or equipped, so that only those of the highest skill and ambition will advance. All clerics of Kossuth share a fiery temper. They are quick to take offense and use violence to enforce the rigidity of their chosen lifestyle. The primary goal of all clerics is to acquire land, wealth, influence, and power, and few church activities involve anything that does not directly contribute to one of these goals.

Tenets of Faith

Edicts - Kossuth’s faith is more important than any other faith. Fire and purity are the same, and embracing it is power. A higher state can only be gained through pain and burning.   Anathema - Drown. Steal or cheat to gain power. Question those above you in faith.

Holidays

The congregation and clerics of each temple consider the birth date of their high cleric a special holiday, lighting tremendous bonfires and making great sacrifices on such occasions. When a cleric gains a level or promoted within the church hierarchy, he or she must endure the Oath of Firewalking, a secret ceremony in which the cleric walks upon a bed of burning coals.

Example Paladin Codes

As followers of the enigmatic Kossuth, we are torchbearers in a world of darkness, emissaries of an alien and magnificent power. With every spark, with every blaze, with every raging inferno, we paint the narrative of a universe awaiting its rebirth through flames.
  • Fire is the purifier, the renewer. Embrace its warmth, understand its burn, and be reborn in its flames.
  • Through acquisition, we rise. Land, wealth, influence, power - these are not mere desires, but mandates. Let the world know the glory of Kossuth through our ever-expanding dominion.
  • To be of Kossuth is to be of strength, resolve, and determination. Anything less is but chaff to be consumed by the flames.
  • The ways of Kossuth are not to be questioned. Be steadfast, unwavering, and fanatical in the pursuit of the Firelord's dictates.
  • Use the flames to test the mettle of the believers. Only those who emerge unscathed from the fire's dance are deemed worthy.
  • Every plan, every scheme, every covert operation is but a spark that can ignite the world. Foster them, for they are the bearers of Kossuth's will.
