Ser Wyn’s Seven Days in Frandyln: The Sale of a +1 Breastplate
Day 1 – Spreading the Word
Ser Wyn arrives at The Golden Exchange, Frandyln’s premier market for rare goods and magical artifacts. The scent of parchment, aged leather, and exotic spices fills the air as traders haggle over enchanted rings, potions, and weapons. Wyn speaks to Javren Gildmere, a dwarven appraiser known for connecting sellers with wealthy buyers.
"A fine breastplate you have, Ser," Javren says, rubbing his chin. "But it’s not just about the quality; it’s about finding the right buyer. I can spread the word, but these things take time."
Ser Wyn agrees, paying 10 gold pieces to have notices discreetly placed among Frandyln’s mercenary guilds, noble circles, and high-end merchants.
Day 2 – The First Offer
By midday, a lesser noble’s steward arrives at the market, inspecting the breastplate on behalf of his master.
"Lord Elveric is interested," the steward states, brushing dust from his velvet sleeve. "He offers 3,500 gold."
Ser Wyn declines the offer with a polite but firm response. The steward shrugs. "A shame. If you change your mind, Lord Elveric dislikes haggling."
Day 3 – The Mercenary Captain
Wyn ventures to The Bronze Horn, a favored gathering spot for high-ranking mercenaries. Over a drink, he meets Captain Dorne Fairstone, a grizzled warrior of the Iron Fangs Company.
"Magic armor, you say?" Dorne asks, inspecting the craftsmanship. "We could use better gear for our lieutenants. I’ll give you 5,000 gold—final offer."
Wyn considers but ultimately holds out for a better price.
Day 4 – The Auctioneer’s Advice
Javren introduces Wyn to Ellis Oathbinder, an auctioneer for enchanted arms and armor. She suggests putting the armor up for an upcoming private auction, but it would take longer than seven days. Wyn thanks her but declines, preferring a quicker sale.
Day 5 – The Wealthy Adventurer
Word spreads, and Wyn is approached by Lareth Valmere, a retired adventurer turned collector. Dressed in fine silks, Lareth takes a keen interest in the armor.
"I could use another fine piece for my collection," Lareth muses. "6,000 gold and we call it done?"
Ser Wyn accepts. The two shake hands, and arrangements are made to exchange goods the next day.
Day 6 – The Exchange
Inside The Vaulted Coin, a secure banking house in Frandyln, the transaction is made. A clerk verifies the authenticity of the gold and the enchantment of the breastplate. Documents are signed, and Wyn walks away with 6,000 gold coins in a reinforced satchel.
Day 7 – A Moment of Reflection
With his newfound wealth, Ser Wyn enjoys a well-earned respite, dining at The Silver Stag Inn and contemplating how best to use his earnings for his next venture.
The sale is done, and Frandyln’s market moves on to its next deal.
Out of character
You manage to earn 6,000 gold pieces. I have not added that to your character sheet, go ahead and do that.
