Wildfond Manor is Built
After several successful raids, it became apparent to Glynhorn that he needed a place to store his newly acquired loot and gold. While most people would just build a house, Glynhorn needed something more secure. He has successfully taken from people homes without them noticing, after all. What Glynhorn needed was a bastion. This would allow him to not only store his "liberated" goods, but would also allow him to attend to some of his needs in-house. It also could act as a front for his more illicit activities.
Glynhorn started by building the basics. A welcoming parlor was needed to make the bastion appear as a normal home. Of course, he needed a bedroom as well as storage space. Glynhorn hired a contractor, who started working on the manor right away.
Once the basics were out of the way, Glynhorn began to focus on the more specialized rooms. "A place to relax and have a pint by the fire would be nice," Glyn thought. So, he commissioned a contractor to build the pub. He hired a former adventuring human friend of his named Glor Mott to run it. Glor was consistent and dependable while Glyn was adventuring with him, so Glyn knew he could count on Glor. Besides, Glor was pragmatic, logical, attentive, charming. This made him the perfect bartender.
While the pub was being built it occurred to Glynhorn that he needed some way of protecting the bastion from attackers. A small barracks was built that could house four defenders. Glyn hired an Orc Fighter that he had met in the Twin Peaches Tavern many years ago named Murzub. Over the years, Glyn found that Murzub Brain Buster was a man of his word. Once contracted to do something, Murzub was committed. He never backed out nor did he back down. Murzub also had the kind of demeanor you need for someone keeping a bunch of soldiers in line. Glynhorn trusted Murzub to hire defenders for the bastion. Murzub hired some of his closest colleagues: a Dragonborn fighter named Utmas Hebor, a Goliath fighter named Arroth Wandercaller Vunakelo, an Orc fighter named Botun the Coarse, and a Tiefling fighter named Valmos.
One thing that Murzub mentioned to Glynhorn while planning the barracks was that a bastion is better defended if the defenders can be mobile. With that in mind, Glyn built a stable and put his good elven friend Falee Dewgrove in charge of it. Being a druid, Falee had a special connection with animals and was able to stock the stable with the best creatures.
With all of these hirelings on the grounds of the manor, feeding could become very expensive. Therefore, Glynhorn decided that it would be best if he could grow some of his own food. He planted a small garden and put a halfling druid he met in Isondale in charge of maintaining it named Sylda Ferngrove. Sylda had a reputation in Isondale for her pies, which were all made from homemade ingredients she planted herself. Glynhorn wanted his employees (as well as himself) to eat well, so hiring Slyda made perfect sense.
Now that the basic necessities had been taken care of, Glyn turned his attention upon how he could make the bastion work for him. As he was pondering, a brilliant idea came to him: he could have a gaming hall. Everyone knows that the odds at a gaming hall are stacked in the house's favor…this could be the way to some quick money! The only thing about the gaming hall is it needs to be stocked by people he could trust. Glyn decided to hire four dwarven rogues he had previous adventures with: Farum Bigkin, Brallenia Fonkor, Daerrick Everstand, and Katla Wildblade. These dwarves knew first-hand what happens to people that cross Glyn, so he trusted that that would not want to become fertilizer by stealing from him.
With the bastion fully built, Glynhorn gave the order to the gaming hall to start raking in the coin. He'll check back in with them in a week to gather the winnings.
