The Hushing Hand
The Hushing Hand is a secret organisation in the southeast of Dânmaer who has been founded to hide interracial relationships of the dwarven nobility with people from the kingdom of the elves. Their goal is to prevent civil wars and complications during particularly challenging times. Noone truly knows who one of their agents is, but their signature can be found all over town to remind the citizens that noone is safe from their view. It is still pretty common for dwarven nobles to find partners of their own kind, even going as far as staying in one particular area of the kingdom or finding a mate in their part of the city. Modern nobles though dare to speak up for their own kind these days, thanks to Stormgard's leadership.
The new king of the dwarves is quite easy-going and benevolent, helping younger generations to express themselves and their ideas of love and companionship more openly.
A few decades ago, a rather juicy piece of information was leaked from the Hushing Hand's headquarters, after one party of the rumour had died. The rumour mentioned that Jônfer Boringard, nephew of the feared Bloodthirst King and, therefore, cousin of the current King Stormgard, was married to Thília Athellôn, a beautiful elven maiden from the outskirts of Sithaline. Jônfer helped his beloved escape Sithaline City, after authorities had threatened to disown and punish her. She settled down in the Wilderness and is considered a political refugee in the settlement of the elves in the northwest. Her children Jânith and Therran live with her in a small building surrounded by halfelves of all kinds.
Public Agenda
Over the years, many of the couples that the Hushing Hand protected have left the kingdom of the dwarves or dissolved due to societal pressure. To this day, the organization is seen as both allies and skeptics of interracial couples. Depending on the people involved in each case, their group members are either very supportive or very derogatory of the lovers' actions. Noone truly knows whether they want to help or destroy their clients.
