Forensics
Forensic experts (colloquial: forensics) are specialised talekeepers educated in verbal and non-verbal communication, charms and lie detection. They often provide legal and social security and representation during debates and procedures, often being referred to in dire situations.
The talekeepers‘ orb serve as recording devices, ergo as proof, for cases of all kinds. Talekeepers in this field work for government agencies, private consulting detectives and agencies of public interest. They specialise in tax concerns, financial and legal matters, criminal cases and private investigation.
One member of the Corcovan investigation agency is Susan Cameron. Her field is the investigation of private and criminal cases, especially grand theft, robberies and murder cases.
She can be consulted from outside the government and is often involved to solve interpersonal disputes inside Corcovah.
Career
Qualifications
In order to become a forensics expert, you first have to complete a three to five year education programme at the Academy of Corcovah, then specialise in legal investigation and forensics. Your education is completed after seven years (four of them are already paid).
Career Progression
You start as a on-foot investigator, travelling to towns and getting to know your witnesses and the evidence in person. Afterwards, you become a full-time investigator, then a commander, then a manager aka an agency‘s leader.
Once becoming a high-level forensics expert, you need to prove your abilities in the following fields:
- biology and medicine (anatomy, physiology, neurology; mortality, decomposition rates)
- chemistry and physics
- common law
- memory preservation and recording
- media presentation and development
Payment & Reimbursement
Forensics experts are well-paid and are allowed to receive minor gifts from those that apply for their assistance. Since they are partially paid by official funds, they cannot receive gifts out of their salary worth more than 100 gold by a single person.
They have 60 days of free time each year, including Council holidays.
Other Benefits
Forensic experts have a good reputation and are welcome to most (unless they see their privacy threatened). Many civilians see them as an extension to the guard and, therefore, grant them coupons or special discounts in their shops.
