Chitine

Far beyond the vast waters of the Aradeian oceans lies another continent that is inhabited by foreign creatures that have rarely if ever set foot on Aradeian grounds. These creatures, commonly referred to as Chitines, are blessed with natural armour. They often have a combined structure of both an inner and outer skeleton. The latter can only be removed under intense pain, so most clothign and armoury used with these folks will be complementary to their already existing shell. Chitines have multifacetted eyes and most grow either significantly smaller or taller than Aradeian folk. They have a particularly sharp sense of sight and experience time as we know it slower. Their bodies are made to carry intense burdens, making them valuable handimen, technicians and builders. Chitines are often told to be very pragmatic and straightforward, with either very expressive or very stern and serious personalities. There's few inbetween. Only few Chitines made their way to the Aradeian continent unharmed. Those who did had issues adepting to the harsh winds and sandy grounds of the Wilderness. Those who could fly eventually made their way towards Dânmaer. One of them, Arus the Wise, became a member of the Tinkerer's Guild under Kônkor Barbendt's watchful eye. He was eagerly helping with his inventions, until one day, his body stopped working and he was forced to retire. He died in the bottom layer of the guild's underground shelter. According to his wishes, part of his outer shell was kept as a reminder, embedded into a plaque with his name and accomplishments. To this day, there are few adventurers and scholars that want to cross the ocean to find a way to the neighbouring continent. Only few have ever reached the other side and even less returned.
It is rumoured that Aevans have uttered the wish to build a bridge between the two worlds, crossing the vast and dangerous ocean for good.
