The Abraxus Affair {1369 DR}
Assassination Attempt of the Abraxus
A magical mechanical Bull attacked King Azoun IV and a few others including Baron Thomdor, Duke Bhereu, and Aunadar Bleth (remember the Bleths were the second family of Cormyr) during a Hunting Trip in the King's Forest. The fight happened outside the same elven tower that the fight between Thauglor and Illiphar Nelnueve happened in the Passing of Power. The Bull spewed a poisonous gas and poisoned the King, Baron, and Duke, and nearly got Aunadar. Aunadar flipped a coin which opened portals to the War Wizards and the Church of Tymora. The War Wizards took the bull in to find out what it was and what the poison was. No magical or alchemical healing was working so everyone was at a loss. Aunadar Bleth was Princess Tanalasta's boyfriend of sorts and helped console her during this time. King Azoun Obarskyr IV went into a coma of sorts and was assumed to die anytime. The Mage Royal, Vangerdahast Aeiulvana , plotted with other nobles to Appoint him as Regent, which the Queen agreed to. Aunadar Bleth convinced Tanalasta not to sign it, if Vangerdahast Aeiulvana took control he would take the whole Country for forever. A group of people attempted to assassinate Princess Tanalasta, but she fought them of. Princess Alusair, a warrior princess (like most Obarskyr), was called home, but never went home. Aunadar Bleth met with a bunch of Nobles and convinced them to form a council to overthrow Vangerdahast Aeiulvana. The realm was in disarray and bound to collapse at any moment. The Mage Royal was seemingly betraying his country, one of the heirs to the Throne was venturing the Stonelands and couldn't take it, and the other heir was not made to be a ruler of Cormyr. Much of the Nobility was getting antsy, if Princess Tanalasta were to take the Throne she would most likely not produce an heir due to her age of 35 and she was extremely picky on who would be her husband. Vangerdahast Aeiulvana was about to assume regency when a group of people led by Aunadar Bleth stormed into the room and Vangerdahast Aeiulvana revealed that King Azoun Obarskyr IV was cured and the group led by Aunadar were all traitors, since they were hindering the normal process and a fight broke out, Aunadar releasing another Abraxus (mechanical bull) to attack everyone in the room. Vangerdahast Aeiulvana ended up trapping Aunadar Bleth in a small space with the Abraxus which was spewing poison and led to a terrible, painful death of Aunadar Bleth. The allies of Aunadar lost their nobility. One of the allies escaped however, Xanthon Cormaeril. The Realm was once more in peace with Azoun Obarskyr IV back on the throne. Princess Tanalasta began training in the sword to protect herself more, and her parents pushed wedding someone onto her much more. Princess Alusair still had not returned of course.
