Aesir

On the largest island that makes up Mykur is that of Aesir. A large region that resembles an upside-down bird skull is a large lake in the middle. The land is full of fertile and rich for farming on the inner parts of the island at least it was, it is still rebuilding from the crown war. Once the home of the Vaslorian Empire now it is a land with tension and warring factions. The most populated of the regions, Aesir is home to many races, most prominently Dwarves and Humans, with Half-Elves, Gnomes, and to a lesser degree Dragonborn, make up most the rest the population. A smattering of other races are here but don't have as much prominence.   The Silver Range is a large mountain range that runs along the southeastern side of the island almost covering the full side. This range is tall and but not very difficult to travel, a lot more water erosion but full of caves and tunnels. This is why the dwarves settled within these mountains, was for the plentiful gems, and metal ores that fill around, the tunnels became their homes, the caverns their sanctuary. Building great cities, some fell between dragons and other threats, but the dwarves build 4 great cities for the 3 thanes who came together under King Durin back in the Desolations. Each Thane was granted a great hammer forged by Durin himself in the Star Forge as well as an axe for himself. One King's Hammer for each of the three Thanes and one Axe to unity them all as a sign of power and force of the dwarves.   There was the city of Durin's Hold, the City of Unity. The oldest of the dwarvish cities that is still held by the line of Durin. Currently it is under the control of Thane Jorin Durin "The Forgebringer" a mountain dwarf who is a direct descendant of the King Durin, there is no king of the dwarves after the days of Vasloria. It is built into the most western side of the Silver Range with massive gates known as the gate of the All-Hammer. Durin's Hold is where most the trade and peace talks happen from. It also as the "Master Forge" a great forge to form great weapons, though even in knowledge it is not the true Master Forge for that is that of the rumored Star Forge where the most powerful magic weapons were once forged.   The next great dwarvish city is that of Dragon's Rest, the City in Blood, which is built like great fortress. Unlike the other dwarvish cities this one isn't inside the mountain; it was once a Giant Fortress when the Dragons of the gods fought against the Giants of the Titans back in the age of Founding and even into the Forging. After being remodeled the massive fortress now serves as a great military base for the dwarves and their fallback position for the dwarves due to the fact of how easy it is to defend and how hard it is to launch a ground assault upon. Currently under the command of the Thane Cyrus Coldain "The Mithralheart" a grey dwarf warrior. The city reserved its title from the dwarves due to the battles fought there as well as the natural red tint the stones have that almost make it seem the fortress bleeds, when it does rain the imagery really comes to life.   The last of the remaining dwarven city is that of Roshem, the City of Light. This dwarvish city is built into a valley along the wall ina terrace style, a fair amount of the food and live stalk for the dwarves come from this city, hard to find and heavily defended the city of Roshem is currently run by Thane Grimthor MacGannis "The Blackiron" a hill dwarf crafter with a knack for using rare metals and stones. the city of Roshem seems to glitter from the water channels that crisscross throughout to arrogate the fields, the name city of light is named from that over any kind of magical light. The only ways in are a few secret tunnels the dwarves hold under lock and key due to the sheer importance of the city, even from the air it is hard to see.   Then there is the ruined dwarvish city that fell almost 785 years ago due to an overwhelming force of Demons. That was the great dwarvish city known as Kalas Anthema or the City in Adamantine. Known for its mile high wall made of the rare ore, it seemed to always repair itself naturally over time, built into a cavern this city was used as an oceanic hub for trade. But since the fall there has been many attempts to reclaim the city or at least gather the adamantine that almost seems to grow there. But all have failed with no word on why. Many think the city is cursed, others think demons still roam the streets, and then a few others think maybe no one has really tired hard enough. Once the city was run by a grey dwarf known as Thane Zaar Silveraxe, "The Golden Thane" but he went down with the city, the only piece recovered was his King's Hammer which now sits in the hands of Thane Jorin who holds the Axe of Dwarvish Lords and the Silveraxe King's Hammer.   Moving away from the mountains we reach the massive lake known as the Pure Lake. This is a massive gorgeous clear lake. slowly going from ankle deep then slowly heading up to waist and no more than 4 feet deep until you reach the center. There is a sudden drop off in a mile wide trench that runs around 200 miles long. This lake is shockingly clear all the way and has a natural cleansing effect. There is lots of fresh fish and water, many villages and two cities all sit around the outer ring of this lake. Those who call this area home often find themselves far more spiritually inclined and relaxed as the Pure Lake seems to bring a never-ending source of calm, when people try to defile it, it can often result in those people....vanishing. Around the lake has the townships of; Abra, Albast, Marabeth, Namir, Ralis, and Moorin. The cities are Pandora and Calerum. How the Pure Lake came into existence is one not known but often debated, some think it was an old lake of the fae before they headed to Niara during the Desolations, others think it is a blessing from a god or titan. Some think it is purely natural effect coming from what lies at the bottom of the trench.   The first of the two cities around the Pure Lake is that of Calerum, this side remains in a loose agreement with the church but also functions mostly independantly. Built similar to its sister city Pandora, it has a realitivly medatrianian vibe built wide and open streets with plenty of arches. It prides itself on its art especially around statue work. It is run by an off shoot of the Dolwrath family that being House Bron, their current leader being Lady Mercy Bron a human woman raised in this game of politics of the world is very clever and rarely shows what she is trying to do perfering more under the radar work. The city itself bussels and moves with a mostly human and dwarvish population, the guard of the city is a mix of Solar Knights and the city guards known as Maor. The Bron are very popular among the people, Mercy's younger brother and her two daughters are often seen among the people while Mercy keeps herself to her palace to handle the inner workings of the city not minding not being seen. A well loved royal family allows the city to hold together nicely and keep the church back and those knights often turn away from worship of other gods not wanting to break the peace of the city.   The other large city around the Pure Lake is that of Pandora. This was once belonging to a Vaslorian Noble house but one of the first to have been excuted in the town square leaving the city in tormil until the end of the war when the Church brought the Brightheart House to rule the city. So the pastel family stays hold up only coming out for large events under the rule of Lord Reginald Brightheart. This city is built like a large cresent shape on the bank of the Pure Lake even creating a few fake canels in the more artistic districts. Once a great city designed for splender of an empire it has fallen to only a shadow, The Church of the Sun's main hold upon Aesir. In the center of this city is a large colosseum known as the Emerald Grounds, due to the gorgous viens of the emeralds that run through the stone of the building. Nearby is the castle Eclipse, also a great work of art on the opposite side of the Sapphire Plaza. The old guards of the city have all but been disbanned besides the upper most ranked which serve as the royal guard. They used the name "Lunar Blades" before the city changed hands. All major plays and meetings revolving around the Church of the Sun, the other cities of Aesir, and the Trithane happen within the walls of this great city, it is said who ever controls the seat of Pandora controls Aesir, but weither or not this is true is unknown.   Moving to the west of the Pure Lake is the massive walls that surrond the lands that are held by House Dolwrath in their city of the same name. One of if not the oldest city of Aesir is that of Dolwrath. This great city and the mile around are protected under heavily fortified walls designed to stop the even biggest threat, this has held true through the Vaslorian Empire and the Crown War all those trained and lived in Dolwrath unless they are the first apperitnce to a function of the city are conscripted to train among the Hounds. The Hounds is the name of the military of Dolwrath and often seen as great heroes or terrors of northern Aesir depending who you ask. Above the Hounds is the Coals of Dolwrath which are the elite soliders and high nobles within the city. House Dolwrath, ruled by Lord Kenway Dolwrath, and their ancestorial hell hound rule to stand against the Church of the Sun to allow free worship and the end of a tyranical rule from a distant throne (Hypocritcal I know after the Empire days). But within the walls is a large forest full of game and plenty of area to grow crops they even said to have hidden demiplane to rolling hills for farming but once again this is all rumored for all we know they are good at growing or have access to Niara or who knows, either way all sieges against the great city have never worked seeming to be fully self sufficent. The Coals of Dolwrath stand ever ready with their Hounds waiting for the next threat to try to bring down their home, then to see their enemies smolder.   The last of the major cities in the northen part of Aesir is one of the three Church of the Sun held cities, besides Pandora, is that of Austur. This city is run by Magistrate James Johnson an older male who used to be a member of the Imperial mages, church ordained wizards also known as Celestial Wizards by those within the Church. This city is a hardened city often feeling alone adn rebuilding from attacks of the Inquistion and the Hounds as they push against one another for control of this town. Having a thrieving trade functions mostly coming from a place to sell and buy pelts going and coming from Stienhus as well as a place for goods from the nearby towns to trade in "freely". Often cold in the heart of winter the Solar Knights try not to do as much work as is needed so they can just stay warm in their barracks.   Reaching to where the Silver Range thins we reach the city of Kyrjur and the Skuggi Forest acting as a sepration point. This part is about the forest we will get to the town later. The Skuggi is known for its thick dark trees that hold tight making navigation besides the mantianed Vaslorian roads that run through it, the wood of this type of tree is known for being extremely sturdy and doesn't ware as fast, but it is horrible for enchament. The wood seems to be rather reistant to magic and other forms of none natural manipulation. The towns of Varkov and Darkwood are made of this type of wood by the order of the old empire. Now they mostly work as lumber jacks for the trees of this forest will often....take something to grow. They expand and grow never running out of wood and trees as long as they remain content with the deal that was struck between the Skuggi and the towns, but it is important to say Kyrjur is not part of this deal and is often seen by the clear 666 foot radius from the walls of Kyjur to the Skuggi. The Skuggi is the biggest source of lumber from Aesir and after a certain radius the trees become normal but still grow at slighty faster rate then the average tree should. The game within the Skuggi is very nice often saying the deer and other game has remarkable rich taste and the pelts also can be tanned to have a strong durablity but nothing magical.   On the coastal side of the Skuggi Forest is the town of Kyrjur which like several other cities is church owned. It acts as a boarder town for trade functioning more of a Toll house turned trade town. Currently it is run by an old noble now made Magistrate Theabold Northbren a younger human male who comes from a line of bishops in the church and this was a test to see how he would handle true leadership, and to which he thrieved. Now those in Kyrjur all thrieve learning math and trade rules. Many find themselves not in guards or anything rather staying as merchants and bringing the wealth. A large portion of the Church's wealth that comes from Aesir comes from this city to the point where it even as a Treasure Galleon and a vault. The guards here are all heavily armed and trained to watch and wait, many even did stents over in Cabronth to learn to guard money.   Now as we reach the southern part of the region we reach the thinnest part of the silver range through the flat lands is the larged ruins of Skyreach, this used to be the seat of the empire before it's fall. When the High King Tristan Vasloria fell to the adventuring party the Iron Song and thats when magic went weird within the city. Now all these years later it remains sealed with a small Tavern called "The Last Stop" where you cna buy supplies, rest, have a good meal before entering the city. Those who brave the walls not many come back out, and if so they never come out the same as they went in. There is plenty of reward within but is the risk truely worth it, is all the magic items, the gold, treasures worth loosing everything you hold dear. What horrors lay within the ruined city is unknown as those who choose to share what they saw are often compared to the ramblings of mad men. So will you brave the ruins?   South of the ruins of Skyreach is another very old city of Aesir that being the home of House Bedagar. The city baring the same name is almost just as old as Dolwrath. Once a mining and prisoner city during the crown war they held back for as long as they could. Now they are in a very loose agreement with the Church where only a large church and the guards for that is all that remains allowing the city to be guarded by the Bedagar knights known as the Crows in honor of the house sigil of the Crow. The city is run by Lord Edmund Bedagar who was young during the crown war but has turned into a good ruler. The city is still often used for its coal mining with in the silver range, the Church does send some prisoners there to help run the mining as way to "rehab" these dangerous criminals. But like Dolwrath all people of age learn to use a weapon as they call it old tradition which the Church isn't thrilled about but they have to let it slide without causing mass unrest from all those who found out. Often those who are in good with Dolwrath find a friend in Bedagar even with the Church finding a home among this southern city. Often the Matron of Ravens is worshipped among this city and the Church tries to hush it down but its hard to break a thousand years of worship for some poeple who came from across the sea.   The last of the large cities is that run by the Church and the southern tip of Aesir is that of Port Klarnar. This serves as one of the largest military ports for the Church. This is where they keep their larger ships to no debeautify the islands if Sigra. It also acts as a foward base to help Myri if for whatever reason they do need help. Known for a contengent of Imperial Mages and Solar Knights, this town is very well foritfied even in a way to rivial that of Dolwrath. It is run by an old noble of the Emerling family. Once a member of House Songflower now Magistrate Brennan Songflower, he had proved himself a strong ruler during the crown war so this was his reward. They are very hard firmed and are hard to break, known for bringing a fair amount of solar knights into play being trained and started here.
