Arvid the Lothic Archbishop aka "Our Neighbor"

  • I see omens in every event and action. The gods try to speak to us, we just need to listen. What did you have for breakfast? And then what was last song you had stuck in your head? Was it a love song, breakup song, dis track, parody?
  • Faith. I trust that my deity will guide my actions. I have faith that if I work hard, things will go well.
  • I seek to preserve a sacred text that my enemies consider heretical and seek to destroy.
  • I put too much trust in those who wield power within my temple’s hierarchy. Briganta and Branwen did what they had to. The death in the underdark was staggering. This unfortunately reveals what the gods rely on us for. We don't like this. We want someone to take care of us but we can only look out for those in our community. Briganta and Branwen are in our community and need much from us.
Half-Elf Arvid is a centrist who sees Briganta (and the other Cyclic gods) giving him signs all the time even in small ways. To him omens give a dramatic air to what he thinks of as a conversation. He sees the writings of Tahura Gazdi (aka the Gazdic Texts) as lifeblood of the Lothic Church. Tahura Gazdi, the Hundred Handed One wrote a series of religious texts of the lives of the Cyclic gods when they were mortal. It involved Briganta reaching out to a bulezau and a nightmare and transformed them into a satyr and unicorn respectively.   Doesn't know how to feel about this and so they go to ask the reanimated body of Archbishop Mavis 5 questions. Archbishop Mavis (Anthony Hopkins as Benedict XVI) was the third Lothic Archbishop and was a child when the city and the Brigantana was founded. They lived in a time where Tashkent was fading from living memory and the stability was heavily missed. The oppression was being explained away. Like the healing fire of Briganta, healing and betterment is painful. The real pain comes from a refusal to heal. It is our understandable nature to avoid this. Did some fucked up shit to the druids who were here 1st.   Happy to help but suspicious>

Questions He Has For Team Elliwick

  • Has Briganta reached out to you? What did she say? What did she say about The Pestilence?
  • Many of Lady Atheia's paladins see themselves as part of their own order, separate from the Lothic Church. How do you feel about that, keeping in mind that you did swear an oath to the Lothic Church?
  • What will you tell the Tashkent when you open the door? What will you tell them about the Lothic Church? Some say Briganta was a giant of Tashkent. The theory has a cute name. "Biganta". Whatever happens in regards to the Chirchik door, Things will change for the Lothic Church.
  • (TO TYE) As a follower of Jido, how do you feel about the Pestilence?
