Zevele Elv
People of the Empire
Thousands of years ago, long before the dragons burned the world, all Elvs were united by the first Zarma, Zakardoune, in their homeland of Zatalia Cardinalic. From this humble beginning, Zatalia, using elite soldiers, advanced metallurgy, elemental power, and shrewd governance, grew into the largest nation of mortals ever seen on Aode, before or since. This massive country led to a new word to describe its size: Empire. The Empire spanned vast lands and stretched distances far longer than most would travel in their entire lives. But the days of glory and victory are long over. Since the War of Scales, with the burning of Cardinalic and hundreds of thousands of Elves slain by the flames, the empire has been in a perpetual state of decline, spurned by the growing strength of external forces and internal struggles. The life of every Zevele is affected by their views on the Empire. Are you a staunch loyal supremacist? A sympathizer? A rebel, like those of Raquan and Froalen? Zevele in areas previously under Zatalian control may find themselves ostracized or barred from establishments, depending on how fresh the wounds of rule are. Perhaps you simply wish to distance yourself as far as possible from the Empires influence.
Unity through Distance
During the golden ages of the Empire, standards were put into place to invoke a sense of unity to the population. Empirical buildings and business in every city were built to exact specifications, roads were standardized and maintained, schools were constructed and given set curriculum, even language was codified with Zevelen, Regions have been vastly different in geography and demographics, but the Zatalian culture was embraced or forced upon every corner of the ever expanding Empire, with varying degrees of success. As such, most Zevele, despite never meeting each other, share many similar experiences and can relate to each other in a way many other widespread races cannot, especially as they age.
Of Superior Stock
In addition to their long Elven lives and heightened speed and reflexes, Zevele often pride themselves as being above most other races from their superior education, intentionally or not. Although officially and legally, all races under the Empire's banner are equal, Zevele will easily find themselves in better positions within the government with little other competition. As such, many, if not most, Zevele have a conscious or unconscious superiority complex to those around them, especially Elvs raised directly within the Empire. This, of course, leads to tension and resentment from conquered subjects of Zatalia, and adds another point to the long list of reasons on why the Empire is in decline. Even their own kin, the Castillans, aren't immune this, especially with their recent contributions to the The Domino Rebellions. All this leads to the world having a negative initial disposition towards Elvs as a whole, but acting polite and humble should dispel these predisposition quickly.
