Public Agenda

To protect travelers. To sow harmony. To build stability.

History

The The Poor-Man's Knights of the Radiant Dawn were started in 723 AE by a former monk of Oun. In the days before the rise of High King Roderick I, law did not reach far beyond city walls. Raids against smaller settlements of all kinds were common. Brother Halfred was one of few survivors after his monastery was attacked and burnt down by a gnoll raiding party. As he tended his brethren’s wounds, Halfred reflected on the growing darkness and decided it was time to make swords from plowshares.   Halfred convinced his fellow survivors to form the initial knights and they set off immediately patrolling and, where they could, repairing the old Ursian roads. As they encountered others they recruited, giving purpose to the lost, taking in the hungry, and spreading the light of Oun wherever they could.   As their numbers grew they spread to the Holy Ardian Empire. Travelers came to rely on the knights for protection on long journeys and it became customary to make a donation to the order for such service.   When King Roderick I began his rise to power, the order saw an opportunity to stabilize the kingdom. They backed his campaign, causing some to believe they were the true kingmakers.

Peace before War. War before Destruction.
