Nanjuk Kinguilla

Unlocked by: Lyra Cassani

Known to his people as The Eternal Wanderer, Nanjuk was the legendary son of Orion, who was cast down from the stars by a jealous constellation and lived among the mortals. He felt their suffering as his own and was known for his quiet, compassionate strength. He, Anen, and Lunale were often depicted together in stoic conversation, watching over the younger heroes.

Legend

Once the People had spread themselves far and wide along the mountains, Nanjuk returned to Vala, to fulfill his promise to ward off the great approaching darkness that had begun to spread over the land like a great blanket of snow. And so Vala taught the Wandering King to navigate the stars and read their many omens, which is how our people learned to read their hidden meanings.   It is said that the great Northern Lights that we see during the coldest nights of the year are the footsteps left behind when Nanjuk’s connection to the living weave was cut. Others say they are the tears of Vala Aurelia Saryx Elden who cried at the Wandering King's death.   Our people believe Winged Women pulled Nanjuk from the icy waters of the Taksikpik River and gave to him a portion of her own life force, and bound by this, he left the north behind to follow her into the great darkness.   To aid him on his journey, Vala presented him with Argonova, the legendary sword made of meteorite and forged from the fires of his own breath. In this way, Vala could lend him his power, though he could not leave the North.
