General Summary

After the battle with the redcaps and the discovery of the murdered druidic envoy, the Adventurers decide they must proceed onward to reach the Druidic Council. Roisyll leads the way, but stops short at the horrific sight of a murdered unicorn. The creature appears to have been hunted by bow and beast, and its horn has been removed. As John notes with interest that there are no tracks or scents surrounding the corpse, he looks up in surprise to see that the party has been surrounded by strange elven creatures with the lower body of deer. Thorne identifies these as alseid, though he also cryptically refers to them as 'the hunted.' The alseid leader informs the party that their friends await them back at the alseid camp. The Adventurers agree to accompany the alseid to their campsite, where they are reunited with Blur and Coron, who left Magepoint a day after the rest of the party. The party rest up and the following morning they are introduced to the 'guardian of the forest,' a majestic unicorn named Myvenwy. Myvenwy informs the party that the witches of Tanlin Marsh have tasked an evil fey named Harakund with hunting unicorns in Greenwood. She believes the coven intends to use the unicorns' horns as ingredients for some dark ritual, and believes it is imperative that they be stopped in this task. The party quickly deduces that this must be the same coven that is attacking the elves and infecting the woods with blight, and agrees to help protect Myvenwy. However, at that very moment, the alseid camp falls under attack, as evil fey creatures called buckawn come riding into the camp on the backs of enormous worgs with icy breath. Several alseid fall quickly to the attack and the party springs into action. As they attempt to repel the initial wave of invaders, the buckawns' leader reveals himself, sending a swarm of wasps at John that, even in his engraged form, drives him back. Meanwhile, more hunters surprise Myvenwy from behind. As the party attempts to regroup, Moss coats the campsite with thorns to impede the wolves progress, and casts a tiny hut over Myvenwy and her protectors to obscure them from the buckawns' poisoned arrows.
