The Keys of Telku / Witch War pt. 11 / Von the 10th through the 11th, 3593 CE / 3-28-21

General Summary

The quest to stop the evil Coven which threatens Greenwood Forest continues underground, in a secret tunnel leading deep into the heart of Tanlin Marsh. The Adventurers have found themselves embattled against lamp blighters and barrow hounds in the Coven's service, and one by one they fall to their wounds or the sleep inducing arrows of their dark fey opponents. When they awake, the find themselves tied to posts in a compound at the heart of the Coven's territory. Before them lies a terrible sight. Sonya and Florina each appear to be prepared for some kind of sacrifice. As Rhangyl, the leader of the coven and Sonya's mother revels in her dark plans, she thanks the party for helping her assemble the necessary pieces for the Coven's dark ritual: the magic waters from the spring underneath the elven outpost, Stazia, the last surviving raptor of her pack, and Rhangyl's own daughters, Sonya, and, to the party's surprise, Florina, who is revealed to have been under an enchantment, convinced she was an elf in order to serve as Rhangyl's sleeper agent. Another twist reveals itself when Raewyn, the faun whom they rescued previously, appears holding the head of the last unicorn to be sacrificed by Harakund the Cold Rider. Not only has Raewyn betrayed the party, providing the unicorn head as another ingredient in the witches' evil brew, she turns out to actually be Harakund's daughter, now seeking revenge. All seems lost as the party watches each vile ingredient added, and the Coven calls upon two mysterious entities, the Witch Mother and Dormenxha, to grant them the power to destroy the elves and druids. But suddenly they find their bindings loosened by none other than Maelarth, the fey sent by the Sunlight Court of the the Eladrim to observe the conflict in Greenwood. Knowing he risks the wrath of his patron, the Stag Lord, for interfering, Maelarth nonetheless frees the party members and provides them with access to their weapons. As Sonya transforms into a snake to engineer her own escape, John heroically charges the ritual in progress, kicking over the Covens' cauldron. However, Florina's allegiance appears to now lie with her mother, and even as Rhangyl's sisters draw the blood from her two children to include in the ritual, Florina charges into battle against her former teammates, joined by Raewyn and the rest of the Coven's forces. As the witches send dark spells flying, trapping John in a force cage, and turning Roisyll into a toad. Meanwhile Sonya wrestles with her aunt Miagalor for the fate of Stazia, and the witch attempts to deposit the raptor back into the now uprighted cauldron. As things appear bleak, reinforcements suddenly arrive in the form of the Druids of the Grove, swooping into the compound in the form of eagles and engaging the Coven's forces, accompanied by the Blur.
