The Keys of Telku / The Final Key pt. 6 / Kith the 13th, 3593 CE / 2-13-22

General Summary

The Adventurers have returned to Castle Argaine, fearing for the safety of their companions Shadolok and Sultar. After having received aid from Lord Rickard Argaine in the form of disguises and an armed escort to Pandona, the party was betrayed by Lord Rickard's men, who turned out to be vicious wereboars serving the demon-lord Anubhak. Upon reaching Castle Argaine, the Adventurers once again encountered bugbear cultists of Anubhak, who attempted to waylay them in a trap, but were killed after a pitched battle. Now the party spreads out as it searches the seemingly abandoned Castle Argaine from top to bottom. After a somewhat fruitless search, John and Rados find themselves in the Argaine sepulchers, where shadowy undead creatures emerge from the darkness to attack them. Simultaneously, the rest of the party on the floor above hear the unearthly voice of one who identifies himself as the Scion of Anubhak, and seems to remember his previous encounter with Adrienne in an ancient tomb beneath the Barren Lands. As more shadows attack, the Scion emerges from the shadows, revealing itself to be the masked figure whom the party spotted briefly in the woods after their first encounter with the bugbear cultists. As John and Rados tear through the shadows in the crypt, they race to rejoin their comrades. Having the benefit of magical weapons and Stele and Baijao's divine energies, the Adventurers are able to overcome the shadows, but the Scion proves a far trickier opponent, being able to use shadows to seemingly teleport from place to place. Finally, they manage to trap the Scion, and Stele uses his divine link to Accuris to send the creature into a slumber. The party must now quickly decide their next course of action before the Scion regains consciousness and becomes a threat once more.
