The Age of Worms / The Zenith Trajectory pt. 8/ Fos the 22nd, 3593 CE / 8-1-21

General Summary

Not By Choice has made their way into Everlasting Night beneath Anoria and are now investigating the temple complex of the fish people known as the ulat-kini in their search for the missing dwarf, Zenith Splintershield. As they approach a door leading to the temple's interior, a horde of ulat-kini guards rushes them. Though the guards at first appear to have the upper hand, Not By Choice proves to be the superior combatants, and soon all of the guards are laid low. In the barracks, they find stairs leading up to the eyes of the fish temple which serve as a lookout posts, but Milton is distracted by the sound of talking and shouting coming from the prison cells to the east. After raising the very noisy portcullis to the cell block, Milton, Lulu, and Harrov discover 2 prisoners with an obvious dislike for each other: a gnome named Cherrit, and a roguish human who does not volunteer his name. The gnome claims to be an archaeologist and scholar investigating the ancient temple, and the human says he is the only survivor of a failed mission to find a dwarf, presumably Zenith Splintershield. Cherrit explains that in order to open the cells, the portcullis leading to the cell block must be lowered as a safeguard. Milton agrees to free them, while at the same time Nari and her cohort of companions have ventured up the stairs to the lookout posts, alerting more ulat-kini guards. The rest of the party is at first unaware of the commotion upstairs due to the loud screeching of the portcullis once more being raised after freeing the gnome and human, but soon Uriah and then Harrov are alerted to the combat and rush to aid Nari, Kade, and Jozu as they battle more fish men. Meanwhile, Milton investigates the stone door leading north, wondering what might lie behind it.
