General Summary

Not by Choice has infiltrated the Champion's Games, the annual celebration of gladiatorial might held in Kedesh. They are there seeking answers for Lulu, who has been targeted for unknown reasons by the Arena Master Loris Raknian. In addition, the team has picked up two new members to help them survive the daily combat matches: Hush, a rebel leader from Bolton looking for mercenaries to aid his cause, and River, a holy warrior of Ciril looking to test her mettle. Not by Choice now faces their first match of the games, pitted against three other teams: Arcane Auriga, Badlands Revenge, and Sapphire Squad. A pitched battle rages on the bloody sands of the arena as the teams square off against each other, though Not by Choice finds themselves benefiting from the arrangement they made with Sapphire Squad's leader, the janni Korush, that neither team would harass the other until their foes had been dealt with. In addition, Nari and her companion Idra have used their magic to come up with a strategy to keep the team out of harm's way, casting a dense fog over the group but magically enhancing their own members' sight to be able to see through it. This allows the sharpshooting Hush to fire through the fog, stopping Arcane Auriga's chariot in its tracks and slaying one of its members. As the battle rages on, more opponents fall or concede, but Not by Choice still finds themselves with a surplus of enemies they must defeat before claiming victory this day.
