General Summary

As Los recuperates from the damage she took from the yellow mold spores, Lulu gives Rikit two letters, one for Auric and one for Ophedes, as collateral against further attempts to discredit them by the doppelgangers. The letters detail knowledge or abilities that only the real Rikit and Lulu would possess. Rikit hurries on his mission of delivering the letters, journeying first to the Arena, and then to the Arcanum of the Seekers. There he is met by a pallid looking Ophedes, who informs him that he is not welcome inside the Arcanum due to an outbreak of the plague. When Rikit petitions him for magic items to help their cause in exchange for antiplague, Ophedes scrounges up a magic scroll of protection from arrows. After Rikit returns from his quest, the party decides to rest another night in the sewers and regain their strength. During Los's watch, they are attacked by a grick, possibly the survivor of their last encounter with the disgusting sewer worms. However, once the rest of the party is awake, they are able to quickly dispatch the creature. Rikkit decides to pursue his plan of turning invisibly and scouting ahead, while Lulu and Los wait while he proceeds deeper into the parts of the cave only he has seen far, their signal to rush to Rikkit's aid being the great grinding noise he expects the drow's gate to make as it scrapes the stone impediment he put in place. Unfortunately, Rikit is dismayed to discover that the drow have already dropped the gate to their living area, and also that the large snake-like creature which resides in the pool outside said area seems to be able to detect him despite his invisibility. He hurriedly uses his stone shape to create a gap by which he can get onto the other side of the gate, just in time before the snake creature alerts the drow to his presence. Though Corvina and the other drow thralls now actively seek the intruder, Rikit is still invisible and able to avoid them by using his monkeyfish extract to climb up to a twenty foot high ledge, where he is shocked to see another deep gnome guarding some sort of lever. Rikit finds himself overcome with a perverse jealousy as he realizes this is Corvina's new slave. Putting his feelings aside for a moment, he uses the advantage of his invisibility to secretly jam the mechanism of the lever, guaranteeing that the other deep gnome, whom Corvina referred to as "Quark," is unable to raise the gate. Meanwhile, Lulu, using a message spell to attempt to coordinate giving a mushroom cure to Los to avoid any further damage from the yellow mold, is overheard by nearby Drow guards, and with that Los, Lulu, and Graft find themselves in the midst of a skirmish. One drow uses her poison crossbow bolts to knock out Graft, while the other runs to warn her fellow thralls.
