General Summary

Los, Rikit, Lulu are confronted by their doubles, as well as the exact duplicate of their late companion Drask, bound and sitting upon a pedestal in the secret room they have just discovered. Rikit, deciding that the real Drask is the one whose body they've been carting around, goes over to the fake Drask in order to use the tried and true torture method of foot removal. Realizing that with the real Drask dead, his ruse is useless, the doppelganger disguised as Drask attacks, along with his companions disguised as Rikit and Los. And, much to the real Los's horror, the Lulu who has been accompanying them since they found her on the upper level. She is in fact Ixian, an operative of Telakin, a powerful being known as a greater doppelganger. While Rikit attempts to fight off the doppelgangers, Los takes evasive action, casting greater darkness and levitating to the ceiling. Given a moment to think, she realizes that the Lulu on the dais was the only one who didn't easily slip her bonds, and that she was also gagged. Taking a gamble, Los sneaks over to the still bound figure on the dais and releases her. It turns out to be the real Lulu, who immediately assists her companions in fighting off her captors. Rikit is taken down, and the doppelgangers attempt to abscond with the unconscious deep gnome through a secret door, but their retreat is cut off by Rikit's allies. Eventually three of the doppelgangers lay dead, with Ixian having escaped in the darkness. Unfortunately, Rikit's tumor familiar, Viscera, has also been killed in the fray. Now as Los begins healing the others, the party must regroup and plan next steps.
