The Age of Worms / Hall of Harsh Reflections pt. 12 / Eire the 6th, 3592 CE / 9-15-19

General Summary

Rikit, Lulu, and Lucifer are in the underground lair of the mysterious Zyrxog, preparing to deal with the magical stone brain that appears to be the source of the domination that is affecting Rikit's love, Corvina Deshokar, along with her now-dead drow dead soldiers. But first, they must pass the still closed stone doors which Rikit previously stone-shaped his way through. Pushing them open appears dangerous, as Lulu notes the mysterious rune of abjuration magic on the floor of the chamber begins glowing brightly when Lucifer attempts to use sheer strength to muscle his way through. Changing tactics, Lulu and Lucifer work together to break the door, allowing them to pass through without setting off the rune. Once more in the chamber of the large stone brain, the team decides that a coordinated attack is the best way to destroy the magical device before it can react and attempt to dominate one of them. Striking simultaneously, they send cracks rippling through the brain, but Lulu is only saved from domination by the protection of her artifact, the Invidian Eye. A final coordinated attack destroys the brain. Though Corvina remains unconscious in the chattel pen where they left her, Rikit attempts to aid her recovery by using magic incense. Leaving the unconscious drow still tied up, they move deeper into Zyrxog's lair, finding a laboratory with a vat of green liquid and several shelves of tomes on various monstrous anatomy. When Rikit attempts to obtain a sample of the green goop, he is assaulted by a tentacled monstrosity. The party quickly dispatches the creature, and then investigates a stone door in the lab which leads to another, smaller chamber, containing what appears to be a scrying pool, currently attuned to the location of the doppelganger leader, Telakin, who lies in a sick bed, disabled by Lulu's plague. Beyond the scyring room, a green glow emanates, and the party prepares to investigate.
