The Age of Worms / Flood Season pt. 14 / Galen the 25th, 3592 CE / 11-22-20

General Summary

Attempting to locate the Wands of Sacred Water within the Ulat-Kini complex, Not By Choice temporarily retreats from two new threats that have presented themselves; a horde of zombies and a huge skeletal dinosaur. The undead beast is constrained by the size of the tunnels leading to its lair, while the zombies appear have been cowed for the moment by a wall of fire summoned from one of Lulu's magical staves. Lulu confides she has one more use of the fire wall available to her through the staff's magic, and a plan forms. As she holds back the zombies once more, other casters in the group bombard the skeletal sauropod with positive energy and acid from a safe distance. Unfortunately, even as the zombies are destroyed by the flames, they push through by sheer numbers, threatening to overwhelm Lulu and Nari. Nari once again draws upon an inner well of magick, mimicking the flames she saw Lulu draw from the staff, but with less understanding of how the spell works, the sudden burst of fire not only obliterates the zombies, but causes more debris to rain down from the ceiling of the unstable cavern. As the skeletal t-rex retreats from sight, the party pursues the new opening left by the destruction of the zombies, coming face to face with another of the Ebon Triad cell's leaders, the gnoll necromancer Tarkilar. Tarkilar proves to be quite insane, but after careful negotation, Not By Choice avoids conflict with the necromancer and his pet demon, instead ascertaining that the wands may yet be found in the opposite direction, on the other side of the t-rex. Meanwhile., Triel Eldurast has severed the lines holding up the travel cage that was the party's only means of egress and ingress from the volcanic caves, forcing them to consider how they will make it out of these caverns alive, even if they do have the Wands of Sacred Water in tow.
