Strange Aeons / The Rushton Terror pt. 32 / Eire the 12th, 3592 CE / 6-22-21

General Summary

The party continues their exploration of Orchid Hill by descending into the formerly hidden hatch to the estate's basement. At the bottom of the stairs is an innocuous looking wine cellar, though Esp does get a psychic reading off a bottle of Dramish whiskey which tells her that Gleorn's cousin Rorgrim was in the habit of raiding the liquor while in the employ of Baron Lowell. After Hemlock picks the locked door leading out of the wine cellar, the party discovers there is much more to Orchid Hill's sub-level. They pass a dungeon cell, currently empty, before finding themselves in a self-styled shrine to Hastur. Hemlock spots a malevolent, madness inducing figure lurking in the storage room to the north, and the party decides to head west through a pair of large stone double-doors, attempting to move quietly so as not to alert the creature. The double doors open to reveal the Lowell family crypt, where another creature lurks over a body, using a strange device to unknown effect. Hemlock recognizes the creature as a type known to visit legendary Carcosa, being otherworldly traders of sorts dealing in all sorts of illicit goods. The creature recognizes Hemlock as well, and issues a dire threat before attacking. As the party fends off the otherworldly creature, the apparition from the storage room attacks, revealing itself to be a form of undead apparently animated by the power of Hastur's Yellow Sign. The party fights for their lives in a battle on two fronts.
