Strange Aeons / The Rushton Terror pt. 14 / Eire the 11th, 3592 CE / 10-13-20
General Summary
Having just rescued a young man named Sholem from the cells below Fort Hailstorm, and having discovered the remains of other less fortunate prisoners who may have been eaten by the fish-men cultists who have invaded the fort, the party finishes their exploration of the fort's basement by examining a storage room which appears to have had one if its walls replaced. Hacking through the crumbling plaster, they discover a ghostly figure who turns and attacks them! It is the ghost of Clyde Pratt, an occultist and illicit lover to Baron Haver Lowell IV's mother, Nemira. Clyde was captured after attempting to poison the Baron's father and left to die in a walled off cell in the basement of Fort Hailstorm. Though the battle with the spirit is brutal, the party is ultimately able to vanquish it. However, Sigvald warns that ghosts such as this will eventually reform until the reason for its persistent haunting is resolved. Within Clyde's cell they find a letter he wrote to Nemira which sheds light on his dark deeds, and stuffed within his corpse they find an ioun stone that Esp uses to enhance her already prodigious psychic abilities.
The party heads back up to the battlements to finish their exploration of the fort. Heading up the stairs in the archives, they discover the study of the missing Magistrate Patrick. In typical headstrong fashion, Garrok strides boldly out of the study to the open battlements, where is he is confronted by another of the bizarre oozes. Another fight appears imminent.
