Strange Aeons / The Rushton Terror pt. 12 / Eire the 11th, 3592 CE / 9-22-20
General Summary
Gleorn has just smashed through a locked door within Fort Hailstorm, where he and his companions are investigating the disappearance of various persons from the town of Rushton, including Gleorn's cousin Torgrim, Maeve Trelawney, the local high priestess of Accuris, and Lady Romana, a member of the Blackguard sent to investigate the town. On the other side of the door is a dining room full of fish-men dressed in cultists' robes. A battle ensues. Meanwhile, Hemlock investigates another way into the dining room. The door he finds is locked, but Garrok breaks it down. As Esp passes through the study, she is confronted by the reflection of the constable, Bryn Kessel, in a looking glass. The psychic discovers to her horror that the reflection is able to be made manifest as it passes into the room, but Esp reacts quickly, trapping the woman in a psychic duel long enough for Garrok attempt to take her down, but to no avail. While in the mindscape of the psychic battle, Esp sees the impostor's true form, that of a smooth featured humanoid creature whose skin seems to made of a silvery glass-like substance. As Gleorn lays waste to the fish-men cultists, the combined efforts of several of the party are not enough to take out the creature imitating Bryn before she passes back into the mirror, which Garrok swiftly destroys. Hemlock investigates the study, which may have belonged to the missing magistrate, Phineas Patrick. However as he picks the lock on a cabinet, he is pricked by a poison trap. Gleorn uses his knowledge of natural medicine to revive the investigator. Within the cabinet the party finds a large stash of coins as well as a magic dagger and cloak.
