Strange Aeons / The Rushton Terror pt. 10 / Eire the 11th, 3592 CE / 9-1-20

General Summary

At Fort Hailstorm, the party pursues and dispatches the last of the zombie guards they have been battling before it can raise further alarms. They are there at the behest of the cleric Winter to search for signs of the disappeared, including her superior, Lady Romana. Hemlock observes the zombie's garb and recollects it as belonging to the Drammish mercenaries who served as the town's militia. It is obvious now that the fort has been overrun by evil forces. With no one else to turn to, the party decides to continue their investigation of the fort. In Fort Hailstorn's main courtyard, Hemlock discovers the starving remains of the fort's guard dogs. Gleorn attempts to soothe the ravenous beasts, but only succeeds in befriending one. The other dogs attack and are quickly put down by the party. However Gleorn finds he cannot shake the attention of the dog he befriended. Opening another door reveals more of the fort's barracks, again manned by undead guardsman. However, this time two of them are dragging an unconscious man whom none of the party recognize. Despite, this, they move quickly to save him, and soon another battle is engaged between the heroes and undead forces.
