Anoria Campaign / The Rose of Jumlat pt. 1 / Galen the 23rd through the 28th, 3592 CE / 5-22-20

General Summary

In the aftermath of Thesk being transformed into a False Djinn and being trapped in the Ring of False Djinn, the tieflings spend the next couple months searching for solutions to the summoner's affliction. After exhausting the resources of Specularum's scholars, they are pointed to a seedy black market antiquities shop, where the elderly proprietor recognizes the ring as one of the seven masterworks of Iago the Proud. He shares the tale of the legendary craftsman, who was cursed by Ishtalar for his pride and vanity. The old man tells them he knows of only one other of Iago's creations, a massive ruby carved like a flower known as the Rose of Jumlat, located in the city of the same name. Thesk and Cyla make the journey across the Karakett Desert to the trade city, located on the Golden River. After securing a room at an inn, they encounter a familiar face, Umar, the half-orc caravan foreman, with whom they traveled from Qudra to Ahsaratt and survived being trapped in the aspect of the Astral Plane known as the Borderlands. He invites them help guard another caravan, which has been commissioned to transport the Rose of Jumlat to its new home at the Temple of Ishtalar in Ganara, and the pair agree. They are introduced to the caravan master, Dalmud Hiyali, son of Diyab Hiyali, as well as the foreman, a dwarf named Anwar. They also see a mysterious old woman in a veil helped into the palanquin that will hold the Rose of Jumlat. After the other mercenaries, merchants, and servants get used to the bizarre sight of Thesk and Tenere appearing out of thin air, the caravan begins its journey uneventfully, passing through the fertile farmland of the Golden River valley before heading once more into the harsh Karakett Desert, During the hours of travel, Cyla makes the acquaintance of a young man named Talgu, while Thesk takes an interest in one of the merchants, a shifty-eyed man named Waqari who shuns the other merchants as snobs. As the caravan settles into its second night on the trail, setting up camp in the Gogol Pass at the edge of the Sorrow Peaks, Cyla and Thesk sit with the servants and Waqari, swapping tales.
