Aleria Campaign / The Seekers / The Frozen Oath pt. 1 / 3588 CE (3/5/19)

General Summary

A combined team of Seekers and Agents of the Eon Eye have traveled to the far north of Aleria, past the Great Northways, to the village of Vikkurs, the northernmost outpost of civilization. They have been sent to investigate rumors that the local Seeker branch has found clues to the location of the Path of Agalorn, a legendary explorer who was rumored to have found a route across the Frozen Dome to an entirely new continent. When the team arrives in Vikkurs, they meet with Seeker Lieutenant Torrie Sig, a half-orc who shows them a tile recovered by her team of goblins from a mysterious frost giant temple. The tile is written in Jotun, but in a dialect that is strange and foreign-sounding, and makes reference to the "North Star," a variant on the Path of Stars practiced primarily in the far north. This is also unusual to be found on a frost giant relic, as the giants are known to be supplicants of the demon lord, Kostchtchie. These clues together point to the possibility that thousands of years ago the temple in question may have been built by or our housed Agalorn and members of his expedition to the so-called Empire of the Dawn. Tasked with this information and a primitive map provided by the Ogthup, the leader of Lieutenant Sig's goblins, the party sets out to the end of the northernmost trail, before venturing west. There they encounter the first landmark on the goblin map, a large statue of a man holding a nest. The man turns out to be a inuksuk, a massive figure built by giants from stacking large flat rocks, and the comparatively large nest is that of an ice roc. The massive bird, en route back to its nest, descends upon the party, and a battle for survival ensues, which ultimately ends in the ice roc's demise.
