Aleria Campaign / The Seekers / Delirium's Tangle / Kahn the 13th, 3593 CE / 6-14-20

General Summary

In the dead of night, three of Rakeeth's Seekers, Gnight Haux, Gantus IV, and Monos, are called to the Seeker Station by their commanding officer, Lieutenant Carsola Montewar. There they are introduced to the notorious information broker, Grandmaster Flame. Flame had previously provided valuable information to the Seekers and is now here to collect a debt. He states his friend and associate Rune Spirithide has gone missing. The famed white minotaur is an emissary of peace throughout Aleria. Grandmaster Flame had recently discovered the existence of a legendary labyrinth beneath Rakeeth, called Delirium's Tangle, said to hold an ancient elven artifact. He says the lure of the maze was too much for Rune to resist, and he now been missing several days. Flame states that if the Seekers help him recover his companion, he will lay no claim to any treasures found within Delirium's Tangle. Though Lieutenant Montewar and the Seekers are incredulous at this offer, they accept it, looking to clear the books with the information broker. The three Seekers follow Flame's directions, taking an opening in the sewers into a series of caverns that eventually lead them the maze proper. They discover the maze complex has become infested with morlocks and their pet mining beetles, but are able to battle their way through, as well as use their wits to make their way through the maddening labyrinth. As they reach what they hope is the heart of the labyrinth, still on the trail of Rune Spirithide, the Seekers find themselves transported to a strange, extradimensional space where they must battle a whispering monstrosity that attempts to drive them insane. After passing this trial, as well as a clockwork door barring them from the labyrinth's heart, they come face to face with the master of Delirium's Tangle, an ancient elf whose body has become a part of the maze's clockwork machinations. The elf appears to be none other than Abicene Greensleaves, the first Primarch of Aleria, who disappeared over 3,000 years prior. The mad elf attempts to destroy the invaders using magic and a control over the room's mechanisms, but the party is able to fight back against Abicene's corrupted life-force, releasing him from his cursed existence and ending the threat. They find Rune Spirithide, who had been knocked unconscious, but when they revive him, he has no recollection of how he came to Delirium's Tangle. Nonetheless returning the minotaur safely allows the Seekers to build reputation with both Rune and Grandmaster Flame. The Seekers are also able to locate the legendary elven artifact, the Ageless Hourglass.
