Aleria Campaign / Doomsday Dawn / Red Flags pt. 2 / 3591 CE / 6-25-19

General Summary

After making appropriate preparations for their mission, Gwen, Dorzha, and Gubbins are teleported to Smoke Island by the Order. They arrive in an alley in the port town of Alabaster, a city under new renovation due to the influx money from the many pilgrims seeking to visit the oracles of the storm god, Eldren. The party are there to infiltrate a gala being held by the pirate Captain Wharfin in honor of the storm god, hoping to locate the Last Theorem, a text vital to their mission of saving the world from an oncoming invasion by the Deep Dominion, and known to be held in Captain Wharfin's Talon Citadel thanks to a letter to the Harbingers that the Order intercepted. Knowing the gala will not be held until the next day, the party takes some time to get the lay of the land. After inquiring in several of the local taverns such as the Cock & Bull and the Maiden's Lament, they learn that Captain Wharfin is holding the gala as a dedication to the Temple of Eldren in penance for sinking a ship full of Eldren worshippers on pilgrimage to the volcanic isle. The locals also describe Wharfin as a crafty pirate who came into power under Bokin the Pirate King, and risks further wrath from Eldren and his emissary, the ghost ship known as the Selkie's Wrath which has been spotted off the coast of Smoke Island, if the wiley pirate attempts any double dealing with his offerings to the storm god. In the Maiden's Lament, Dorzha spots a familiar face; Lorthu, the oread diamond merchant, whom she last saw in Patesh. After ingratiating himself at Lorthu's table, Gubbins is able to learn that a masked man calling himself Invius, a man who matches the last known description of the Harbinger leader Nelcerion, came in on the the Blackguard, the same ship that Lorthu and his party arrived on. Gubbins also learns that Lorthu will be attending the gala the next day. The party books rooms at the Sea Swallow, the local inn, and while Dorzha rests, Gwen and Gubbins concoct a plan to scope out the Talon Citadel. They disguise themselves as "Lady Vanessa and Lord Peter Cordren," and make their way down the coastal trail to the fortress. However, at the gates, they are rebuffed by a goblin named Flobbo and other members of Captain Wharfin's guard, and return to Alabaster with little new info other then a general sense of the Talon Citadel's defenses.
